So now : I'm going to fit 30mm spacers to the boosts 😂 Can't find tyres I like enough to justify swapping out the Insa Turbos (Michelin Crossclimate variants doesn't come in an 85 sidewall) just yet so I'll just go with the spacers. 🤷‍♀️
  • 300bhp/ton
Spacers really are not an issue, the hub and tyre have no clue if you have spacers or different offset rims, the effect is the same. Stock wheels will rub unless you wind the steering stops to reduce lock, hence why all stock Defenders have...

You’ll still have quite a big sidewall with 18” if you go for the right size tyre tbh. Should be 5-6” of sidewall.

OKAY well I am, after much deliberation, I think going to go down the route of fitting 5x165 to 5x120 adapters (56mm offset increase) with some of the New Defender (L663) steelies, which are 18". Having read about the Boost Alloys it seems like...

Yes, I believe it’s 2 in body lift and 2in spring and shock lift, this was all fitted when I got it, so I cannot be sure, I going off what I was told at the time last July. I’m only green laning in it and continental travel , want something...

You'll need to watch the pinion angle on the front prop with the new arms, while the arms help solve the caster of the front wheels, they make the pinion angle worse and more likely to produce vibration and binding. Ultimately it depends what...

What are you wanting to learn? The FL2 is surprisingly capable due to the traction control system, it can make all its wheel spin, where many other vehicles may end up with drive to only 2 wheels under some circumstances. However, the FL2 like...

So you have a 3.0 straight 6 diesel l322? Damn good workhorses but 4.4 is far superior. You could always look for an l322 with less miles on it, or an l320 ain’t shabby with the Tdv8 neither
  • 300bhp/ton
It feels wrong doesn't it! Mines cream and I feel terrible but its so muddy at the moment I'm never clean getting into it 🤦‍♀️ Yeah I think the 4.4? A little more forgiving on the insurance but still quite a bit more than the l322. Have been...

Don't go for a light interior, get yourself some rubber mats and a load mat, plus maybe some seat covers. But a luxury interior will always be more vulnerable feeling. I have a p38 Range Rover with a nice interior. And fairly tidy outside. It is...

We only get the Prado in the UK. At least for the past 20 years. The old model stopped last year has to be about the fugliest car ever built. Truly dreadful looking. Also plastic fantastic inside too. Not saying they aren't ok vehicles. But man...

Depends what you want. Nothing wrong with an L405, although IMO the modern RR's (well all modern Land Rovers) just feel and drive like tall & heavy estate cars. But that seems to be what the market asked for. Personally I prefer 4x4s to feel and...

If body roll is bad, an anti-roll bar might suit better in addressing this issue. There are a few air shocks about: https://gabriel.com/HiJackers I've read up on them and reviews seem mixed, some people seem to find them fail quickly, others...

That is a vain way to justify it. Many of us go to the effort of ensuring our vehicles are not illegal. In this case, wider wheel arches or even attaching some rubber to extend the factory ones is cheap and easy to do. Its just laziness not to do...
  • 300bhp/ton
    doesn't mean it isn't illegal....

Yes ,spacers or wider offset rims would work.

The 1.6 is very short gearing and a Tdi doesn't rev very much. I'd need to check for certain, but I'm reasonably sure a factory 130 with a Tdi would have had a 1.4 transfer box, but this would have been the tall gear-set LT-77 with the 200Tdi or...
  • 300bhp/ton
Which LT-77? If it is an earlier one with the shorter gearing. Just swap in a 1.2 transfer box. It'll give you similar gearing to the latter LT-77/R380 with the 1.4 transfer box. It'll be way cheaper than an over drive.

300bhp/ton replied to the thread High torque manual gearboxes.
A lot of it will come down to how you drive tbh. The old Series LT-76 has a very low torque rating, yet loads of people have used Rover V8's and Tdi's with them. The R380 is rated at 380nm, about 260ft lb. Land Rover didn't fit these to the 4.6...

Speed can most certainly be felt. Looking further 0-60mph is 8.4 vs 8.7, so pretty close. However, 0-62mph is 8.9 vs 9.5 sec Only 2 mph more, but the diesel has dropped by double the amount of time. And interestingly the 3.2 has had to do a...

You are missing the point of the question. The op asked specifically about the 3.2 which they have now vs an SD4 they are considering. And how the performance would vary....

?? This era of black cab uses regular 7" round lights, same as a Defender, RRC, Jags, Jeeps, Triumphs, Healeys and every American car from 1940 thru 1970 and so on. Norseman said the RRC lights didn't look the same, but they are exactly the...

Discovery 1 & Freelander 1 have square lights too, as do most of the modern JLR products. And if you really think a p38 looks like a Metrocab, I'd suggest a visit to SpecSavers ;) And you couldn't be more wrong.... the old Black cab headlights...

Agree to an extent. But do bear in mind you can buy a new cross member for just over £100. You can even get a galvanised crossmember with extensions for about £260. These are relatively easy to fit in situ. A chassis is going to set you back a...

I woudl say you are doing very well at that mpg. Parkers says 18mpg for the 4.0 and oddly 20mpg for the 4.6 https://www.parkers.co.uk/land-rover/range-rover/station-wagon-1994/specs/ Either way, 19mpg would seem to be right on the money.

19mpg in a 4.6 p38 surely isn't low..... On a very good steady run you might see into the low 20's. With about 22mpg being as good as it'll get if you fiddle the figures a little, i.e. reset it on the move and drive only a moderate distance at...

Schrader valves are fine to prove the individual air bags are not leaking. All you do is unplug each air line to the individual airbag, which is pretty easy. Then attach the vale and use any air-compressor to inflate one at a time. If they stay...
