    Defender 300tdi Alarm fob

Hi, all, I know it's a topic that's all over the place, but I cannot pin point an answer for my 1996 110 300tdi. I've got a spare two button fob from LR and need to sync it to the alarm. I thought I read that I could do it providing that I have the alarm code (which LR also provided for me)...

    Difficult Start

Just updating my threads following some work that now appears to have helped the starting issue I had. Starter motor packed in last week and a reconditioned LR starter has now been fitted. She still has a fuel leak at the back, but with the new starter the start up is so much better. Thanks for...

Why with a full tank of fuel?

Just updating my threads following some work that now appears to have helped the starting issue I had. Starter motor packed in last week and a reconditioned LR starter has now been fitted. Starter Motor Wont Stop!

Well she's back and what a transformation! No other issues were found to suggest why the starter failed so a reconditioned genuine LR starter was fitted. This then proved that the starter was on its way out as the difference is amazing! Before she was sluggish as if the battery was low and she...

    Starter Motor Wont Stop!

Thanks for the replies everyone. My friend took her away this afternoon to sort her out. Apparently she jump started and could be driven so not all bad! I'll let you know what horrors he finds!

    Starter Motor Wont Stop!

Thanks Mike. I know the alarm wont work without the battery, what I meant was has my disconnecting the battery caused the immobiliser to kick in and do I now need to enter the alarm code, or should it all work as normal once I reconnect the battery?

    Starter Motor Wont Stop!

Hi all, Just as I thought I'd identified the issue with the sluggish start, a new problem hits my 300tdi starting up! The sluggish start I believe is due to the fuel draining back to the tank. Now that my drive has remained dry for more than two minutes, I've noted a wet patch under the...

Alarm / immobiliser not working, neither do door switches for interior light

Great thread, just what I was looking for. I would never have thought that the interior lights were linked to my alarm/ imobiliser. I didn't fully follow that alarm info in the difflock link, I'll have to read that again. My indicators flash to deactivate and my horn sounds when I...

    What's this off?

A wheel choc, thanks all. I best put it back in then!

    What's this off?

Picked up my 300tdi a couple of months back and eventually got around to giving the seats a good scrub! While doing so I had a nose round the battery box and (is it the) tool box compartments under the seats. Grebby is an understatement, god knows where she's been for the last 128k, but all...

Why with a full tank of fuel?

Thanks for the comments. If it was the fuel pump would I experience problems once she has started? Plus, it's only the first start of the day that has an issue unless she's been left for several hours.

Why with a full tank of fuel?

I posted a few weeks back regarding the 'difficult start' my 300tdi is experiencing, but I thought I'd post a new thread with the following to see if catches any extra eye's as she's still suffering! She'd never failed to start, but the first one of the day was always difficult with it...

    Difficult Start

Apparently the plugs work, but once I've got the meter to measure I'll double check. There are a few electrical issues I hop to resolve, such as the 12v supply at the cigarette lighter and the internal lights coming on when the doors open, I also plan to install a second battery for leisure use.

    Difficult Start

I got her back over the weekend from having the timing belt and a few other things sorted, including the leak offpipes. Even though the leak off pipes were replaced, there was no major difference to the start, it still took a couple of turns. However, I filled her up last night for the first...

    What would you do while......

She's back! Timing bet done, we ended up replacing the following too: - Crankshaft oil seal, there was a leak! - Water pump, apparently it wasn't the worst that my mechanic had seen, but now done and hopefully will outlive me! - Aux belt - Horn/ alarm moved Thanks for all the comments...

    What would you do while......

Sorry, meant to say less easier! It's just behind the plastic grill at the moment!

    What would you do while......

As it stands, I think we're going with the belts, water pump and seals. Oh, and we should be moving the horn/ alarm somewhere a little easier to get to! Thanks fro the comments Neil

    Difficult Start

My friend still has her at the moment, he's not had chance to work on her so still in the dark. The suggestions have taken on though and I'll let you know how we get on. Thanks Neil

    Brake Issue!

Thanks for the comments. A friend has her at the moment replacing the timing belt but I did mention to him about the brake issue, he said he'll look at them. I'm not sure what time he has this week, but I'll certainly take the wheels off when I get it back and look at the disks etc if my friend...
