Depends on what model of disco. If 2 or 300 then just remove the pulley then the high and low pressure pipes at the pump. Then remove the four bolts that hold the pump to the casing and remove the pump rearwards.

If it was the clutch not clearing it would baulk in 2nd gear not crunch. 200 dti were bad for 2nd gear. There is a modified baulk ring. You could try and gently get it ino 2nd without clutch and without the vehicle moving. Just keep the gearstick pressing against 2nd gear for about 30 sec...

Unlikely to be head gasket. 90% of the time it is the switch. You either change the switch or pay to get the oil pressure checked.
