Hi,

I need some Advice with an issue I have. I have play in the shaft on the steering pump which has cause the pully to move out and chew the belt up.

As it's my first time working on a disco I want to know if their is any particular propellers that I may encounter when removing the pump?
What is the best way to do this any advice is appreciated.

Depends on what model of disco. If 2 or 300 then just remove the pulley then the high and low pressure pipes at the pump. Then remove the four bolts that hold the pump to the casing and remove the pump rearwards.

I removed mine not long ago on my 300tdi, i did it pretty much the way Walter says, but the pump needed abit of gentle persuasion to get it out.
I then discovered on refitting, that getting the pump back up in behind th plate that the pump bolts onto, was pretty fiddly to get it into position.
I ended up taking the plate off, and bolting it onto the pump while it's out of the car,and then putting into position and bolting it up. For a few extra bolts, it's alot easier and quicker!!!

Hope this helps
