    Freelander 1 Help Tailgate locked

Hi. Yesterday as we had to take the cat to the vet the tailgate refused to open. The window drops as normal but the door is locked. I know there are several threads concerning this, and I'm not sure which are specific to the symptoms. So could someone direct me to the relevant thread for this...

I think it had T on it, "Was it the traction control light?" Dunno. Ok. So took it out last night TC + HD light illuminated on the way home. Now...

Freelander 1 Hdc and tc on over 40mph but not sure which brake light switch I need ? Please help

We bought a replacement switch the story I heard was the supplier changed the spec without bothering to tell anyone one, after having the two amigos. Since then it has worked fine. The switch comes with a wiring adapter which cost me more than the switch The connector is YMQ503280 on the bag...

    I really shouldn't..

Get under the car that is. Last time I got under I noticed all the screws on the front of the undertray were missing. At the weekend after finally getting a set of ramps I was going to waxoyl the car but then the wire brush evaporated. However I noticed on the rear of the undertray there are two...

Freelander 1 So that strange feeling...

Thanks Mike . I actually like the car. I don't mind doing a bit of work on vehicles and "sensible" cars have never really been my thing I've had two TR7s and even an Alfasud before. When I did buy a sensible car after being nagged and nagged by my ex wife it broke down and was more unreliable...

Freelander 1 So that strange feeling...

As my partner drives the Freelander most of the time at the moment it seems every time I get in it there is an issue I didn't know about. Iv'e got in for 1/ smell of diesel. It was the HP fuel injection pump ,oooch, which lead to discovering the worn turbo pipe and the bodge on the bolts / screws...

    Help! Victim of bodge!

Thanks for all the replies. I had a closer look yesterday in the gusting wind and squalls when I exchanged all but the top l/h pipe, the one with the wear, with silicone replacements the small pipe between the sensor was very squidgy. Our car didn't have the front acoustic cover when bought...

    Help! Victim of bodge!

After having the high pressure fuel pump replaced last week I had a quick look at the invoice which had been put in an envelope and had noted other comments. One of which was boost pipe rubbing on manifold bolt. Looking into the engine this is the curved pipe to the l/h side of the sensor. Sure...

    Freelander 1 Clunk....What clunk?

So the Freelander went off to the injection specialist yesterday. It transpires the injector was not guilty but in fact the fuel injector pump was, which of course worked out more expensive to fix. As the car is needed we agreed to let them replace the pump and to be fair it was fixed to collect...

    Freelander 1 Clunk....What clunk?

Oh dear once again I haven't driven the Freelander 04 TD4) for a while I really should drive it more just to check. A few days back I could smell that old familiar smell of diesel just like being back on the tank park with Chieftains. Slight diesel leak from somewhere I didn't have a chance to...

Second defender stolen in a month cheshire

These people are just absolute scum. We live in Runcorn and I have had the non standard dust caps stolen from both my Focus St & my partners Freelander whilst parked in our drive. We now have CCTV up but that didn't deter some **** walking up our drive and trying the car doors at 03:00 in the...

    Viscous fan prob

Would it not be easier to fit an electric fan unit. I did that to my 2.9 XR4X4 which had a viscous with a control unit you can then control the fan start temp and also modify it to run on after the engine is turned off.

    Door stuck open

On Tuesday Carole went out shopping in her TD4 Freelander 1 (3 door 2004). I was doing the washing up when she returned and could see the drivers side door wasn't shutting. Just as well it wasn't when she was out shopping. I had noticed a clicking noise from the door myself and noted it for...
