went out for one hour at 6.30pm, returned to find house burgled and defender stolen. My son had his stolen from work last month.

2008. Keswick green Land Rover Defender 110 with full roof rack, rear ladder side steps alloy sump guard seven seats land rover seat covers and XS leather steering wheel. On private plate V50RGA.

Stolen from Warrington and spotted driving over Runcorn Widnes bridge into Liverpool half an hour after we went out.

Offenders broke into garage to steal a 3ft axe to cut through the rear doors of the house to steal the keys.

God that's awful, can't believe they broke into your house :( I'm so sorry :(

It's a gorgeous looking landy, don't think I've ever seen a 110 in Keswick green. I sincerely hope that you get it back...

This is starting to get out of control now! all of theses thefts in just a month!! I'm truely sorry to hear about this and the scum bags even robbed your house! :(

Thanks guys.
Bad news is defenders are the top stolen car in the country due to high residuals and three defenders have been stolen in Warrington this week.

Might seriously have to consider buying something else!

I know the Police are at breaking point with all the cuts to their budget, surely with the clearly organised nature of all these thefts across Cheshire, and the North West in general, there is a little more that could be done? Is there co-operation between, say, Greater Manchester, Cheshire and Merseyside Forces to get to the bottom of this?

The concern is not only one of the individual being deprived of a vehicle they have often saved for and lavished care, money and affection on, but also to what nefarious groups the ill-gotten gains are distributed; are there links to other forms of organised crime, drugs or worse? Security measures are all very well, but, as Swoggin has found, even the very best serve only to slow the determined 'professional.'

What response has been forthcoming from local Police and Crime Commissioners when contacted by a collective body, such as Landyzone, rather than just by an individual?

cuts to budgit my arse lazy bastards just want to tear round all day in bmwx5s they would soon act if you had ****ed the bastards that nicked the landy

What an educated post that is. We all know numbers are 40% down whatever you think of the police. Our local force regularly had campaigns re landies to mark parts and give out advice etc. You are also highly likely to get stopped in any defender after midnight.

really?? I regularly leave home in lancs to drive back to work in London Sun / Mon Nights, normally leave at 0130 - 2 am as the motorways are empty apart from a few trucks n police patrols

250 miles across the northwest, cheshire, midlands and home counties and they have never once taken a second glance on or off motorways....

Cheers Steve

Our local area of Calderdale is one of the highest for landy thefts as its quite rural. Its a priority for them to stop defenders and I know has made for one or two interesting chases.

i got stopped in cheshire at 2am, they turned round and chased me, i even tried to lose them to give them some persuit practice, the copper has a modded classic and is a member on here :clap2:

Its good to hear they are stopping people in the early hours
fingers crossed it stops some poor bugger having their pride and joy stolen

These people are just absolute scum. We live in Runcorn and I have had the non standard dust caps stolen from both my Focus St & my partners Freelander whilst parked in our drive. We now have CCTV up but that didn't deter some **** walking up our drive and trying the car doors at 03:00 in the morning last year. They actually stole a Mondeo from one of our neighbours that night, I didn't know until the Police knocked on my door and asked if I had caught the scum on camera.. Of course no one was caught they finger printed my car but couldn't get a full print. I have now extended the drive to the side of the house so both cars will be at the side of the house with a gate level to the front. The IR night vision on the cameras isn't great so I'll be putting up a separate IR light source as well. Hope they find your car and the culprits.
