hi folks my 2003 has on a couple of occasions carried on running at tickover for a couple of seconds, does not race away, only a small amount of oil in intercooler pipes(no more than i would expect on any turbo diesel) has bmw breather fitted running on supermarket diesel at moment with millers...

Hi there its a relitively easy job, carefully remove the door card then the plastic cover there is one bolt to just slacken on the window clamp, pull the glass up out of the way ,then there are three more bolts to remove and the mech is free takes a bit of twisting about to get it out ,but...

hi there sounds like the window cables or mech has given up ,you can replace just the cables but when mine went i just got the whole thing ,cost about 35 quid new and took half hour to fit ,to me not worth messing with cables . Trev.

just done mine but couldn;t be bothered with cables just replaced the whole thing 34 quid and no hassle.

Hi my hippo does really well on fuel (td4) on a run to norfolk from just outside Alton Towers filled up before leaving filled up on return same garage it returned 48 mpg but it is a manual ,towing nearly 1.5 ton and local to work about 34mpg. Trev.

Not sure about the engine but a 2004 is still a freelander 1 but is a facelift model Trev .

Thanks for that teddywood1 I can see where you are coming from but a fully synthetic 5/30 5/40 will give instant protection from cold especially in cold weather where as 10/40semi isn't as good especially in winter . It has a smaller temperature range .

Thanks for that it does do a lot of towing (it works for a living) and has a blue spark multi map box fitted so will probably look at a 5/40 oil. Regards Trev.

Thanks for that I,'ll get some different oil acea a3b3/4 only reason i put fully synthetic in its always had that in it from New only done 77000 now not bad for a 12year old motor . Regards Trev

Hi folks time to service the hippo went to local landrover specialist to get oil and filter ,gets it home and notice the spec is 5w30 fully syn but acea is a1b1 apl sl /cf so rings them up they say this is what they put in all td4 and td5 they service ,spoke to the company that supply them...

After you disconnect the battery ( make sure lead is out of way) then turn on ignition key this discharges the system I was told this by a relation who is a mechanic It worked for me on a mates freelander but it's up to you if you feel safer waiting 20mins or do both wait then turn on ignition...

Hi Mine had a problem with the tailgate it wouldn't close then it decided that it would open on its own even when going up the road ,turned out to be a wire on the key side of the handle I think it was the blue one ,hope this helps . Regards Trev .
