    History

Not withstanding the (very) thinly disguised **** take It was interesting looking at the magazine and the record of how many vehicles were still on the road from the article. And yes I did look at the Mot history and it gave various reasons why some of the vehicles are not on the road anymore...

    History

I was a bit bored so I thought I would check out how many vehicles were still on the road from a Land Rover mag from 1998, this was when I purchased mine. Out of 25 vehicles in that edition only one was still taxed as of yesterday. Some of the vehicles were new Freelander's and cars uprated by...

    Softdash seat ECU removal conundrum

The ECU is only clipped to the underside of the seat cushion with a plastic turnbuckle. You don't need to move the seat to reach it. Stick your hand underneath and you will reach it. There is enough slack on the cable for you to pull it out and disconnect it.

    RRC Speedometer head unit repairs

Has your speedo reached 100,000? If it has they can stop and not go further. I wound mine back with a drill on reverse on slow speed. Obviously this will not correspond with the last mot, that issue is up to you. The screws for the angle drive mount the cable to the back of the speedo, check...

    RRC Speedometer head unit repairs

The head unit does not usually fail it is normally the cable that is either tight or requires some oil dripped down the cable. The clicking would suggest that it is the cable that is stuck. The speedo can also fail to work if the angle drive screws are not tight.

    Lower Tailgate

Be careful when getting a replacement. 1990 onwards the fixing bolts do not line up with earlier hinges and you will only be able to fix the tailgate with one bolt in each hinge. The edge of the floor also does not have the raised lip and extra seal arrangement except at the corners. If you...

The Smith wheel type was similar in design to the TWR star alloys but with thicker spokes. The model was called the Rhino and sold for half the price of a genuine TWR alloy.

    Courtesy lights...

The switch for the courtesy lights is a spring plunger fixed to the A or B posts. When the door is shut it presses in the plunger switching the lights off. If they do not work it is generally rust on the screws. Remove the screw and grease the thread or replace with another self tapper.
