Hi all,

Just a quick question about the door activated courtesy light switch before I rip the door apart to look for it and find out why it's not doing it's thing.

Where in the door is it?

Anyone know...?

D

The switch for the courtesy lights is a spring plunger fixed to the A or B posts.

When the door is shut it presses in the plunger switching the lights off.

If they do not work it is generally rust on the screws. Remove the screw and grease the thread or replace with another self tapper.

What a load of tosh. The switch on a p38 is part of the door lock. If you don't know, don't post.

Hi Rewmer,

So the switch is part of the lock/locking motor assembly? Okay, I'll look there for a wire hanging off, otherwise it's £135.00 for a new assembly!

Thanks for that.

No, do as rewmer says first, press and hold the courtesy light button for 5 or 10 seconds, you should get a message to say lights set I think. If that doesn't work then think about dismantling the door.

I feel your pain. Are you sure theyre not working ? Have you tried holding the button on the light ?

when i first got my p38 the courtesy lights didnt work, i tried the method as rewmer said but nothing happen so i disconnected the battery for a few minutes and it did the trick, might not be the correct way of doing things but it worked. If you do try this make sure you've got your radio and eka code(make sure they are the correct ones aswell!!!).

Hi chaps,

Thanks for that, the auto set for the courtesy lights is on and all the doors operate the lights except for the front passenger door.

So, as the central locking for both the front doors isn't working and as I've been putting off the inevitable mind snapping fiddling about that is going to be the replacement of the door locks since I've had the P38 in question, I 'spose I'd better take a **** load of heroine and get on with it!

While I've got your attention though chaps, has anyone seen, looked at or got this 'Faskit' system for the auto air suspension? (www.faskit.net)

Cheers,
D

Looks expensive and pointless to me. 4 shrader valves with suitable connections and a 12 volt tyre inflater would do the same thing.
