    Dse oil leak.

Oil return pipe from the turbo back into the engine sump is also a culprit. Take the acoustic cover off the bottom of the engine and wipe all round with a rag to pinpoint where it is coming from.

    spacesaver wheel needed urgent

Running wheels with different diameters on the same axle will cause problems with the TC. Probably knacker the diff as well.

    dse auto gearbox question

I have done a parts search on Microcat and the diesel auto uses different propshafts than 4.0/4.6 autos. The props may be different lengths because of the differences in gearbox length between the HP22 and HP24. Also the diesel auto has a coupling adapter FTC5067 on the rear propshaft. I...

    Unlock diesel ECU

I don't have a complete list but ERR6113 is for manuals and ERR6114 for autos both non EGR. My EGR diesel is MSB106370 with a different plug.

p38 4.0 want diesel!!! becm issues.

I can think of a few other things that you would have to swap: - radiators/gearbox oil cooler/fusebox/engine ECUs/gearbox ECUs/aircon system/exhaust/dash unit. Forget it.

    Unlock diesel ECU

Yes it should work as long as the ECU plug fits. Later engine ECUs had a slightly different plug. I think with the introduction of EGR. It just needs the immobilisation code syncing between the new engine ECU and the BECM. Any decent diagnostic system will do that. I think syncmate will do it...

    dse auto gearbox question

There seems to be two basic types of Borg Warner NV225 transfer boxes listed in Microcat. Type 1: FTC4207 / superseded by FTC4744 Type 2: FTC4208 / superseded by FTC4745 My diesel auto transfer box is FTC4745. Do we assume type 1 is for manuals only and type 2 is the same for all...

    dse auto gearbox question

I am also planning on fitting a HP24 to my diesel although I haven't had the time to progress the project very far as yet. My DSE has a J Fearne chip and a larger intercooler. I have got a brand new 4.6 Thor gearbox ready to go in which has the largest 4.6 torque converter fitted. I am...

    EAS Compressor performance

I have built a test rig in the garage for testing EAS systems off the car. It has a p38 air tank on it. I have found that just filling the tank with a newly rebuilt compressor takes about 7 minutes. Fitted to the car and filling the air bags as well as filling the tank would take longer.

    Replacement intercooler

Not looked at it too closely yet. I have acquired a late Thor gearbox. I know it is a bit longer. Not sure whether to machine a spacer or alternatively alter the prop shafts. I need to find a diesel bellhousing first.

    Replacement intercooler

I have got a brand new ZF24 ready to go in. Next project!

    power chip ecu

I have experimented with a few different chips in my p38. I have tried a superchip, a Jeremy Fearne V2 chip, a couple of others and one from these guys based in the Czech Republic :- RANGE ROVER 2.5 TDS Power chip,Chiptuning !!! | eBay The guy writes his own maps. Goes well but I haven't done...

    Replacement intercooler

The problem is there isn't much space to fit a larger intercooler. The Allisport one I fitted fits behind the main radiator like the original but drops down lower between the chassis rails with the engine oil cooler swapped over above it. There is no need to disconnect the oil pipes. The turbo...

    Replacement intercooler

You could fit an Allisport intercooler for the p38. Big power increase combined with the right chip. Well made and relatively easy to fit. Occasionally come up cheap on Ebay.

    p38 Shock Absorbers

The factory shockers were actually sourced from several different suppliers over the years. My 2000 DSE came fitted with Boges as standard. I have though replaced the front ones with new Boges and can recommend the ride.

    Oil from diesel crankcase vent

It is only a plastic valve. Surely someone has changed one before? or am I the first? Dave :)

    Oil from diesel crankcase vent

OK but I would still like to replace it. Can't find it listed anywhere.

    Oil from diesel crankcase vent

I have now removed the cam cover and dismantled the oil separator inside. There is a wire mesh pad which although was not blocked or particularly dirty, I have cleaned anyway. There is also a plastic breather valve mechanism screwed inside the cover (see attached photo) which I would like to...

    Oil from diesel crankcase vent

I am getting a lot of oil through the turbo and intercooler on my 2000 DSE. I have removed the EGR which helped, however a lot of oil I have found is coming from the crankcase vent. On my 2000 model the vent valve is inside the camshaft cover. It has a membrane and spring mechanism to maintain...
