To replace a 22? If so keep us postedI have got a brand new ZF24 ready to go in. Next project!
Not looked at it too closely yet. I have acquired a late Thor gearbox. I know it is a bit longer. Not sure whether to machine a spacer or alternatively alter the prop shafts. I need to find a diesel bellhousing first.
Surprised you have found one that is not a pile of rust. They were pretty good a falling apart when fairly new as i recall. TR5 Pi would be my choice. Class motor they were.
was a pile of rust when i got it! on my 4th one now that iam restoring finished one side of the body part way through the other side.
more of a tr6 man myself prob as they are more in my price range! tr5 lovely if you got £25000!
didnt someone on here fit a 24 gearbox in a diesel used the diesel bell housing and torque converter and thats about it?
Yeah know they are big money not a lot were made. The early 2.5 PI engines had a problem with crank thrust bearing spinning. Factory repair was to drill block web and fit a self tapper to anchor it. It was a not to be communicated to customer mod. Brand new TR6 came in on warranty with "Something rolling around in boot on corners". After a couple of hours of buggering about retrieved a Phillips screw driver from fuel tank. His little lad had dropped it in there. He was not impressed when he had to pay the labour.
The petrol injection was crap. I converted my Pi saloon to carbs
It was not the best system ever produced that's for sure.
they are vastly improved now with the rather expensive but much needed bosch metering heads that are available!
