    P38A Throttle Body

They are prone to leaking, bad design with 3 bolts to secure a square plate. Many do bypass as it seldom gets cold enough here to need it.

how many days coolant and oil leak free have you been ?

Next on the list me thinks. My indie is doing my CV joint later this week so will get him to have a look.

how many days coolant and oil leak free have you been ?

Mine threw it's coolant out over the M1 on Friday night on the way back from London. Hose to heater split......seems either my hoses are tired or I have pressure back in the system....oh joy.

Understood, the last RV8 was produced in 2004 but LR know they had issues from 3.9 onwards but never did anything to rectify.

    More Power Query

I'd go with that, but only test driven a 4.0 gems so never compared a 4.0 thor to my 4.6 thor.

Don't LR learn from their own experience that relying on pressing bearings / liners into into blocks without additional fail safe's is going to end in tears! Would have thought this one should have been properly serviced for at least the 1st 3 years for warranty & only a few months out of warranty?

Not surprising given the history of the Rover V8.

    More Power Query

As said, a K&N will kill the MAF. I put a Janspeed cat back system on mine & very marginal instant throttle response. With the centre box taken out it felt less a little less powered but just made lots of noise. Magnecore leads made no difference. Mine has 4.0 pistons to increase compression & a...

P38 or D2....Can't decide! please help!

Most likely the pump has been overworked feeding leaks & burnt out the thermal switch (didnt know you could fit an external switch)? I'd check to see whats been done to the EAS system lately as it could be masking an underlying problem with leaks etc.

P38 or D2....Can't decide! please help!

LCF blocks were used on latter years 2000 on but being LR this is not guaranteed, they were also exclusively used for LR exchange engines to combat slipped liner issues but they still failed as the liners were not pressed in fully during assembly. The code is embossed on the side of the block...

P38 or D2....Can't decide! please help!

The problem with RV8's is the production quality is so suspect it's pot luck whether you get a good / bad block. Mine never overheated & i replaced the entire cooling system when i bought mine as a precaution - still dropped a liner 40k miles later (in a later LCF engine block with steps at the...

P38 or D2....Can't decide! please help!

Mine is on 3rd engine. Liners dropped on original at 60k. Then on replacement LR engine at 140k. New top hat engine in now at 185k but blows headgaskets continually. Mine was very well maintained by PO & by myself but luck of the draw with RV8's. PS, never had electrical issues with mine.

V8 is more refined but will ensure your spanners never collect dust!;)

    4.6 V8 OIL LEAK

Best thing to do is clean the engine & then look for where the leaks are coming from (highest point of leak) - between block & head / front or rear of engine / front cover etc. Valley gaskets can leak easily on these. Also check your breather pipes from the rocker covers for obstructions /...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Not 100% sure. The Janspeed cat back system I have on is suitable for both V8 & Diesel & this replaces the centre box section so possibly.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Thinking of selling my JE straight through centre pipe, sounds great under throttle but too much of a drone on the motorway with the janspeed rear boxes.

Are your wheel sensors WABCO? I've had long ongoing issues with aftermarket sensors.

    Thinking of buying a Vogue

For 6k you may find an early L322, at what condition on that budget is dubious. Don't forget to set some cash aside for your own diagnostic software & the inevitable 1st year repairs. If you can't do your own repairs these can empty your pockets pretty quickly. On that budget maybe your better...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Similar with mine still. I get hot air as normal but still getting a hissing expansion cap after a long run. No overheating. Starting to think I may have a leak from LPG Vap (it is 8 years old) so will take this out the equation next week to check.....it's probably HG's though :(. At least my...
