Hi all, hoping for some advice please:
The P38 (v plate, 4.6 petrol) has thrown up the dreaded ABS failure message - both lights stay on and the message is traction failure.
I've had the codes read and it comes up with a failure on the front offside ABS sensor, but that one has been tested and works fine.
I'm suspecting the ABS pump, but thats a chunk of cash to spend to find that it's actually something else . . .
Somebody here must have experience of similar problems - help!

Is the sensor seated correctly?

Push it all the way in, it will self adjust when the wheels turn.

Next thing to do is check the adjustment of the brake light switch as that can affect the ABS and Traction control light

Pull the abs sensor out. Give it a clean and tap it all the way home
Pain in bo tocks those sensors

I wouldnt be surprised if it was ECU failure but need to check with a new genuine sensor first, I found aftermarket didnt work properly. What is the exact code? It wont just report that its a certain sensor, it will report what is actually wrong (short to another being a favorite) or high/low resistance etc.

I have that problem! After doing some work on the master cylinder I found when pedal released the brake lights stay on - the switch isn't getting pressed. Can't for the life of me find any way to adjust it and I don't think there's any play in the master cylinder on the other side (ie that affects pedal travel) so in the end I extended the switch with a bit of plastic and electric tape.

So whats a better way?

Remove switch. Pull plunger out of switch. Push pedal down. Fit switch let pedal up.

Are your wheel sensors WABCO? I've had long ongoing issues with aftermarket sensors.
