    P38A Sunroof problems

Afternoon all. Got a problem with my sunroof-have done a search but to no avail. A while back it wouldn't close on the switch-so used the emergency winder. It now doesn't open or close but the motors whirrs and the emergency winder works. Could it be the cogs in the motor unit? If so I'll get...

The show us your Range Rover thread

Thanks. Had it 11 mainly fault free years! This year had to have the BeCM unlocked by Rick the Pick and now sunroof will not work-motor whirrs away but no movement. Will replace motor. Steve

    Sticking Tailgate Release

I had the same problem with the lower tailgate-tried a newer solenoid but still the same. Ended up using picture framing wire and a big washer-attached wire to mechanism, drilled hole in tailgate cover (inside!)-now just pull the washer from the inside. Works a treat. Steve

P38A Leak in footwell, where exactly do you silicone

I've got the same-wet drivers carpet-only discovered when I took the BeCM out. It's not the O rings so will try silicon on the screws above. Thanks Steve

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Having problems opening the lower tailgate on the P38 so bought a second hand solenoid unit. Same problem-sometimes opens-sometimes doesn't. Cleaned all the rods, latches and re-lubed-also adjusted the rod holder. A little better-but still not normal. Drivers window has decided to become...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Thanks Joss, I've tried sealing it for the last 11 years. It stopped leaking for a few years after using Captain Tolleys Creeping Crack cure-I'll try again with it. It's leaking from the top seal. Cheers Steve

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Another MOT passed! That's the 11th without failure since I've had it. Tester said mechanically very sound-slight corrosion underneath. Things are playing up though. Had Rick unlock the BeCM earlier this year (battery went flat) and so far so good. Still a problem with boot release and...

What have you done to your Landie today.

P38 - tilted the sunroof-bloody thing wouldn't shut-had to manually wind it back. Will have to check the fuse! A few things now starting to go wrong after 11 years of ownership! BeCM had to be unlocked a couple of moths ago and now the sunroof. Still not bad in 11 years! Steve

    P38A Interior lights staying on

I have a problem with my interior lights as mentioned in other threads. The centre console above thr driver and passenger does nothing-will not come on or respond to pressing the switches. The boot will not unlock either until the interior lights go out. Mine is a problem with the BeCM I...

    P38A Engine disabled

I'll give that a try-there has been water in it from a leak-but all switches are working-might have shorted something else out further down the line. Many thanks again Steve

    P38A Engine disabled

it's a funny one-first press after a few seconds to open upper tailgate-then you have to wait 10 mins for the interior lights to go out before it will operate again to open the lower tailgate. I've disconnected a connector that goes to the latch-may be indicating it's shut or something-and I no...

    P38A Engine disabled

Update! Put the BeCM back in Monday (easy) and replaced the door mechanism (bastard of a job). Charged battery and tonight it roared back into life-thanks Rick!!! Still a problem with boots and light-but I can work around it (have to wait for interior lights to time out before boot will...

    P38A Engine disabled

Thanks all, Rick has worked his magic as mentioned - I received the BeCM back today and hope to put it back next week. From Ricks comments I was hoping to get a refurbed lock to put in at the same time-but now I will test the switches and motor in the mechanism before replacing the BeCM. I...

    P38A Engine disabled

I'm ok at rocket science-just not P38's. It should be good to go-this is Rick's message Your becm is fixed & ready to be returned. What we found is this. The relay & driver for the door locks was hanging on. The power, which should be a quick shot of approx 5 miliseconds was powering for...

    P38A Engine disabled

Unfortunately Marty has none in stock at the moment. I've read that you can replace the microswitches with MGF ones-any idea where to get them from-or indeed another mechanism? I'll take the door card off on the weekend and give the switches a testing and a squirt of contact cleaner. Steve I
