So I’ve read a few threads and I’m pretty sure I have a leak through the pollen filter box. I see you silicone them up but where exactly? Is it litterally just the cap as pictured or is there more under the scuttle which would benefit? The rubber hose that protects the wire is also spilt so I’ll get one of them too. If it’s just the caps I’ll buy the caps too.

As I mentioned in a previous post, I spent a very long time hunting down my footwell leak, I sealed virtually everything in sight with no results. I then removed the square plugs for the scuttle screws, they have foam seals which are useless. I put a blob of sealant on each and have had no more leaks, a very small part but it has a major issue. Only the ones over the pollen filters are at fault as they drip the water straight into the cabin. I assume you have checked all of the other areas, such as windscreen and the heater o'rings and door seals (I had one that had slightly detached and leaked) There are other areas but try the easy ones first.
 
Thanks guys. Door seals are good. The rubber round the caps is shot. New screen fitted a while back but I think this is on going. Fitter mentioned the plastic screw parts were getting crappy so another part to look at.
 
On mine I had to completely remove the pollen filter housing - there's a metal plate fastened with 10mm bolts underneath the scuttle trim - your trim has a wiring loom emerging through it.

Take all that away until you can peer down through a squarish hole and see the blower fan. There's a plastic frame that has a rubber gasket underneath it - this might need resealing.

But on mine it was directly in front of the aperture where the problem lay - I can only describe it as a sort of fissure in the scuttle/bulkhead panel itself which ran for about three inches laterally across and in line with said blower intake but about 2 inches in front of it. I just whacked a neat bead of silicone in this and dry carpets resulted. This problem clearly existed on the car for sometime as evidenced by the amateur bodgery regarding the intake frame gasket and busted clips etc etc They must have used a complete silicon cartridge on it. The gasket is NLA (no surprise) so a good clean up and careful reassembly was the order of the day. A wet test with a few watering cans showed it was all successful.

While you're at it it's a good opportunity to clear out all the crud in the scuttle area from leaves and twigs etc - mine was pretty bad but after 20 years it's only to be expected.
 
Thanks mate. I pulled the trim off and siliconed all the screw holes as mentioned so see what that does first over the next day or so and we’ll keep digging. I’ve been working my way down the car slowly. First the top left screen. Now the scuttle. It gets better every time so eventually it should be dry as a bone :D

Hi Joss, in your second picture that screw by the rubber grommet is where I had my leak, i removed screw and the plastic clip that the screw screws into a nd put a small blob of sealant in the hole, replaced the clip then put a small blob of sealant on the end of the screw and refitted the screw. Been fine since.
 
Thanks matey :D that is on of the screws I siliconed so hopefully that is the culprit.

Does anyone have an idea for the part number for the damaged rubber tube/grommet? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

I don't have that on mine '97 V8, so is it a bonnet earth or something else. Had a quick look in the parts manual, nothing jumped out.
Say what it is and where it goes and I'll try again.

I spent ages going through the manual myself earlier. It’s just got one black wire. It dissappears under the bonnet noise deadening pad. Didn’t want to pull it down. Could be a screen for the radio etc but other than that not the foggiest
 
I've got the same-wet drivers carpet-only discovered when I took the BeCM out. It's not the O rings so will try silicon on the screws above.

Couple more spots of water on the carpet this lunch so I’ll strip the scuttle out. Fully and seal the lot.
