Rick has worked his magic but has suggested that I need a new door mechanism-I assume this is the microswitches/servo?

Does this come as a unit and where could I buy it from?

I'd rather fit one before I put the BeCM back.

Regards

Steve

Contact @martyuk. He does decent refurbed units.

Alternatively look on the bay of E for a second hand part. MGF motors from the same year have the same motors inside and the motors just clip out and in when you have the actuator apart.

Unfortunately Marty has none in stock at the moment.
I've read that you can replace the microswitches with MGF ones-any idea where to get them from-or indeed another mechanism?

I'll take the door card off on the weekend and give the switches a testing and a squirt of contact cleaner.

Just get someone with Nanocom to disable the EKA and immobiliser until you get the lock sorted. It's not rocket science.

I'm ok at rocket science-just not P38's.

It should be good to go-this is Rick's message

Your becm is fixed & ready to be returned.
What we found is this. The relay & driver for the door locks was hanging on.
The power, which should be a quick shot of approx 5 miliseconds was powering for nearly 2 seconds & was unstable. This would have burnt the driver's door lock, & it looks like the power was then reversed back into the becm. This would create a few strange actions on the vehicle.
We have programmed the becm for key only entry. The fobs will still work but not essential for immobilisation. If you lock with the fob, you must unlock with the fob. You can lock with the key & unlock with the fob with no problems, but not the other way round. It also looks like you may have to replace the drivers door lock mechanism. It was a one shot failure, so you can refit the becm & try entry with just the key & see how you get on, or get a drivers door lock mechanism sorted as well.

So I'll check the microswitches and try anf fix as required.

Not sure about the microswitches but certainly the motors from the same year are the same. Marty gets new microswitches from somewhere so can point you in the right direction. From what Rick wrote you might just need to replace the motor.

Thanks all,
Rick has worked his magic as mentioned - I received the BeCM back today and hope to put it back next week. From Ricks comments I was hoping to get a refurbed lock to put in at the same time-but now I will test the switches and motor in the mechanism before replacing the BeCM.

I hope that's cleared it up.

Steve

Update!

Put the BeCM back in Monday (easy) and replaced the door mechanism (bastard of a job).

Charged battery and tonight it roared back into life-thanks Rick!!!

Still a problem with boots and light-but I can work around it (have to wait for interior lights to time out before boot will open-pressing centre light button will not disable lights-been like that for ages).

But up and running!

Need to put a few things back and reset windows and sunroof.

Also will have to go to main stealers for radio code.

Thanks everyone for help!!!

Steve

it's a funny one-first press after a few seconds to open upper tailgate-then you have to wait 10 mins for the interior lights to go out before it will operate again to open the lower tailgate. I've disconnected a connector that goes to the latch-may be indicating it's shut or something-and I no longer have to wait 10 mins.

This first happened about 4 years ago and I simply disabled the interior lights by pressing the centre button and holding. This lasted until the battery flattened and since then the lights on the centre roof console no longer work-including the map lights and the system will not turn off by pressing the centre button. Must be a crossed wire as the boot and interior lights are the same fuse.

I'll try and get my Rave to work.

Steve

That centre light sounds like your issue. What happens if you pop it out and unplug it?

I'll give that a try-there has been water in it from a leak-but all switches are working-might have shorted something else out further down the line.

Many thanks again

All interior lamps are controlled by BECM.
