P38A 2.5 diesel- want one but scared!

For me, this looks a tidy example. But would investigate further into MOT history, that can tell you a lot about a cars past. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Range-Rover-P38-2-5-DSE-Automatic/193982512258

Bottom of the tailgate does corrode yes, but being aluminium it's treatable. Clear indicators, different dials. Later 4.6's had 4 pin diffs front and rear. There's more info if you search for it. James Taylor did a book which makes for interesting reading.

Matrix o rings can cause leaks into cabin, so can the pollen filters. Sunroof drains don't help either. It's easier with the dash out rather than fighting bits of plastic and ducting. Matrix is an easy fix, just replace the o rings. You could fit an audi matrix but I don't see the point really...

Ghost immobiliser to get or not to get?

No value in freelanders i'm afraid. Only higher value motors. You're safe.

    Ashcroft lt230 rebuild reviews

I'd have suggested Winchester Gears but they have a few weeks lead time at the moment.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

If there’s enough play in the bearing, the halfshaft will float about. Caliper will only take up so much before it starts pushing the piston back.

I ordered brembo from ECP late last year. Think it came to just under £200 for discs and pads all round.

That's perfectly normal. Lift the other wheel up on the same axle otherwise you're fighting the viscous coupling.

    2.5 DSE, fuel pump maybe?

Early 97 it was registered. It's probably something i'd outsource to a more experienced party. I'm an engineer by trade but brake pipes is something i've not done enough of to be comfortable doing lol. When I had the fuel tank out they did look a little corroded but I know they're gonna need...

P38 Diesel. What engine temperature is normal?

I'll sell you my alloy filter housing if you need one. I bought a new plastic cap instead so have no use for it.

P38 Diesel. What engine temperature is normal?

Mines early 97. Pre EGR with the alloy inlet but the plastic filter top.

    2.5 DSE, fuel pump maybe?

Mine are due to be changed on the back end at some point. Waiting for better weather and access to a 4 poster. Not something i'm looking forward to if i'm honest lol.

L322 How to completely flush transmission

If a fluid change kills the box, chances are it’s ready to be replaced anyway. At least with the proper flushes they drain as much out as they can.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

how did you find the hd clutch? I’m hoping to push a fair bit more than standard so wanted something that could handle the torque.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

I've replaced both of the bushes and the seal that the shaft runs through. Also drilled and tapped a small grease hole to each bush so I make sure both are lubricated. The problem with the HD clutch is it shears the pins, and if using solid dowel it then cracks the shaft itself. By welding the...
