    Intro and help needed please!

I very much doubt the optical cable will be anything to do with it. Fibres just transmit signals (in this case a common BUS signal and also your sound/nav info) they don't carry any power at all If your unit isn't switching on at all then it has been disabled some other way. Even if the optics...

Anyone fancy a Forum meet again?

Just had a quick look on the map but in between all the suvvern places you're on about has 'there be dragons here' all over it...... Well at least on my map it does. Took 10 minutes to unroll the thing....

P38 DT/DSE/DHSE owners - how many miles to a tank?

Old thread but here's my 2P........ So i've been using the P38 as my trusty workhorse for the last 4 months doing mostly motorway miles with a few A/B road trips in between and a little bit round town (not too much TBH) For the first 4500 miles I left it to the trip computer which gave an...

    RF receiver signal in MHz

That's about what my approach will be to be honest! I don't think they would have changed the code receiver at all with the newer units - I really believe it's just a much narrower RF receiver and better filter, and it should be possible to bodge a better receiver onto the existing code chip...

    eka

I often get a message in the dash display that says 'press remote to start engine' after entering the EKA, sometimes the EKA won't disable the immobiliser without me pushing the unlock button on the fob It sounds like you have a deeper issue though - BTW sometimes I hear a 'chirp' when entering...

    RF receiver signal in MHz

Does anyone know the exact frequency the BeCM unit responds to? I know it's 433 MHz but I need the precise TX frequency and bandwidth, I guess it's not modulated in any way Am gonna have a go at making my own RF receiver, I found a unit that operates at 433.92 MHz - is this the same as the RR?

1997 P38 RR, Engine Disabled & EKA doesnt work :( HELP

I know where you're coming from but charging 20% of the vehicles value for an RF receiver is taking the **** just a bit. I would very much doubt whether the part costs more than a dollar or two to make - and it should have been retrofitted as a recall to fix the original faulty ones (but that's...

1997 P38 RR, Engine Disabled & EKA doesnt work :( HELP

Cheers for the tips! Was it a pain running the wiring from the boot socket to the battery? I was wondering if I can do a reverse charge via the cig lighter - not sure but it should be possible? Leave the solar on the dash and then put a cig lighter socket on, plug it in and then current 'should'...

    MOT and ABS light

Be nice, be polite: 'Please can I refer you to the relevant section in the Range Rover owners manual that explains the functionality of the ABS warning light on the P38 model, it's related to the traction control system and needs input from rolling wheels before it will extinguish. I can show...

1997 P38 RR, Engine Disabled & EKA doesnt work :( HELP

Thought about that but it's outside the back of the house and have no power sources there. I did think about getting a decent (windscreen size) solar panel and then wiring through to the battery, AFAIK it should only draw about 0.5 AMP (if someone knows exactly then please shout) and a decent...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Mine has just been (hopefully) collected to get the towing electrics checked - assuming the guys can figure out how EKA works! We're heading back to the UK next week and I need to tow a big trailer - I haven't used the car for about 3 years so thought it might be wise to get the electrics and a...

1997 P38 RR, Engine Disabled & EKA doesnt work :( HELP

I leave mine unattended for long periods and disconnect the battery each time, what i've found are 2 scenarios: 1) Disconnected for a short period: Enter EKA code and immobiliser is switched off via EKA sequence, then I start the car with the key as normal (no button pushes on the fob) key...

    p38 2.5??

I've had my diesel auto for 8 years now - it's been pretty solid. Have only had a recon air compressor fitted at 100,000 miles (150 quid fitted) and the usual bushes brakes etc I would advise having the engine mapped though as the standard output is not great. Mine was done before I bought it...

The little fake chrome trailer hitch ball just sets it off perfectly for me! That cannot possibly be a genuine Overfinch? They would never put their name on a piece of 'art' like that, methinks someone has tired very hard to make it look like one......and failed, miserably There's a new...

    Morning all!

Hi Mike - I can kind of claim dual-shire-isms, I was born in Lancaster but grew up in Leeds for nearly 17 years.......so I basically make claims based on who is winning at the time! Am back in Lancashire at the mo though (well at the end of this month I will be)
