    engine wont turn off

My old man's Rangie did this after it was converted to a 300tdi - it was the fuel cut off solonoid as mentioned above. You can always just stall it out until you get it fixed!

    new discs and pads

If they're really tight on there after some hammering andswearing, another tips was that you can put the hub and disc in the oven for a bit to heat it up - shouldn't do any damage to anything as long as the bearings and that are out. Are you doing new wheel bearings too?

    new discs and pads

Oh and apparantely the discs are a bugger to get off the hub - someone said that if you bolt the hub back onto the wheel it gives you something to hold when you try to undo the bolts.....

    new discs and pads

Don't forget to grease the back of your pads and the new pins with copper slip or similiar else it'll sound like a rusty old transit when you brake....!

Clutch pedal dropping and hard to change gear

Well got it all sorted - wasn't a bad job except for being bloody freezing! Put it all back together and the pedal was really bad - got an eazi bleeder on it and that didn't see to do much at first. Gave it a couple goes then thought about leaving it for the night, decided to give it one more...

    Got me some protection

It's a genuine Land Rover one so guess that should be fine! I'm with 4x4 highway so they should be pretty understanding. Paul, pics look good, that's what I had in mind. I'll just buzz off the bottoms like Short Round said. I'm terribly kack handed so any job that involves cutting needs careful...

Clutch pedal dropping and hard to change gear

I think I've got one at home somewhere. If not, my brother is changing the starter on his hot rod this afternoon so if he wants my help, he'll have to help me! I'll make sure we do mine first in case it starts raining....haha!

Clutch pedal dropping and hard to change gear

Just order master and slave from Camberley. Was a little more than paddocks but I'll have them at 2pm. If it's the flexi hose I can always take them back or swap them anyway.

Clutch pedal dropping and hard to change gear

Cheers Ratty. I'll just replace both - looking at the prices on Paddock, they ain't much. Looks pretty easy to change too....(famous last words...! haha)

Clutch pedal dropping and hard to change gear

IT's been getting harder to change gear over the last few days in my disco. Now the pedal travel with almost no resistance a few inches and I have to push it all the way to the floor to get it to disengage. I checked the reservoir tonight and it looked empty, topped up to top (it was dark and I...

    any had this

Just a thought, it's not coming from the water pump is it? My old Range Rover had a cheap **** part pump on and it started making a horrible clacking noise - think one of the impellors was fouling on summat. Never did find out what as it stopped a few days later!

    Got me some protection

Went to go fit it on Sunday. I sized it up and I'm going to have the remove the number plate holder and the front valance. It was cold and wet so I decided to go back to bed..... My question, what do you normally do with the end caps after you remove the valance? They come down to the same level...

    Swivle seal leaking

Thinking about it, you may only shim the bottom of the ball.....
  14. rojbarker

    Swivle seal leaking

You have to shim the top and bottom of the swivel ball to allow you to tighten the top and bottom nut up to the bearing - as it wears, you remove shims so you can tighten the nuts up and remove play. Bad explanation but once you take it apart, you;ll see what I mean. I thought I needed a new...

    any had this

Happenend on my camaro - one of the big end shells must have worn a lot. You can hear a tapping/clicking noise that increases with revs, no power, etc.

Cheers for that, I'll have a look on there. We have a load of engineering supplies units around Andover. You used to be able to buy individual bolts and all sorts but now they have a £15 minimum purchase.
