    Getting into welding

I had a 130EN and that is what I thought too. Till I got a better welder. I now use a top end Lincoln and it is just sooo forgiving. Complete novices can make excellent simple welds within minutes. Cheap machines just don't have the power capacity, nor powerful enough drive motors, nor drive...

    Defender security

Looks good. But he should have patented it if he wanted any IP rights.

    Rebuilds...

Mine was 2.3k plus the unecessary bits like roll bar, soft top, NAS rear step, bikini top and BFG tyres! No new chassis here or even major component rebuild - just a load of seals, bushes, bodywork consumables and fiddly little clips! Costs soon mount!

    Replacing bulkhead vent seals

Bit quick to make a decision isn't it? I went with foam and on day 1 the foam resists being squashed so the compression at the top holds the lower edge away & leaves a small gap. As time goes by, the top edge deforms more permanantly about the folded edge of the flap allowing the bottom...

    Soft top installation advice

Loose tops are usually due to shrunken canvas no longer fitting. Assuming it is a decent quality mohair from exmoor.... Just follow their fitting / drying advice and you should be fine.

Speakers in dash? Will 6x9 fit

Anything can be made to fit.... But to put them in the std locations you'd have to build them out loads & it'd encroach on knee space etc. Have a couple going on top of my dash... If I can settle on a console design I actually like. Possibly by gearstick...? Or maybe cubby box sides?

    door seals

Lots of threads about it if you google.... I removed the solid cores where the seal curves.... Better but not as good as most seem to find the genuine.

Fitting Subaru WRX Seats In My 110

I've got WRX seats in my .... WRX. And they are probably the most comfortable seats I've driven in... But thy do look quite thick for mounting on a high seatbox like in a landy. My vote still goes for MGF!

    Re-skinning a door

I wouldn't for the reasons cited above... Removing a used skin and refitting it whilst is possible is surely going to completely destroy the paint in those areas. And unless the birmabright is in excellent condition & you anneal it as you go along (further screwing the paint) then the...

    Defender 90 Side Bars suggestions

Was going to suggest 'fire and ice' steps but see you've already found those! The std sills just unbolt you know.... Most people fit sliders in place of the sills as you can lose a lot of ground clearance if you go underneath which among other things can look a bit silly if you leave too much...

110 door and boot door security -cheap tricks

Nice work.... That looks simple and cheap enough to make it worthwhile even on a soft top landy! .... Next job on the list I think. Thanks for the photos.

    How hot is too hot?

Ive become a real temperature nerd lately. Since putting the disco 200tdi in I've been concerned about the gauge reading very hot so built some electronics to read what is actually happening. Now have a digital temp sensor fitted in the waterflow just under the thermostat, one in the radiator...

    defender vs delica.........

How did the delica do? I've always fancied a camper but vw prices are astronomical these days and 2k seems to buy a good 4wd auto a/c delica...... Might be more useful than a 90.....?

    Defender door interior panels

Place called LR centre in Liverpool. £122 all in when I bought em last year. GAL231 - Defender Front Door Card | LR Parts As said, some issues with damaged / mismatching parts, but that was supplier (allmakes) issues not the retailer. The guys at LR centre did a commendable job getting it all...

Defender central locking - clock ok for power?

Yeah - i'd be interested to see that too. I bought a very similar kit on ebay a couple of months ago. Took the door card off and realised it was nigh on impossible to find a position to fit the motor as the door panel, frame, glass all came too close to fit anything new. Might have been due...

    Kenlowe control

Thanks for the comments, still struggling to get the code right for the voltmeter.... Edit... Now got it to stay within 0.3v of actual voltage throughout 7-16v range so happy with that. It's the 65535 integer only restriction on word variables that has me stumped. Could no doubt code it a better...
