Locking wheel nut woe - part 2

Is there space to get a dremel with cut off disc in there and cut the wheel nut away? If not how about a series of small holes drilled around the face of the nut to release some of the pressure on the thread...........You are into desperate measures, been there many times. I now avoid locking...

    Fuse 25

I had that fuse blow and diff lock light first time we towed a trailer - turns out there was a short in the trailer wiring so I re wired it. Worth looking at the towing electrics IMHO given they are an add on, might be more vulnerable to problems.

    Stable Matting..

Buy a set of rubber mats tailored for the car, and dont worry about the carpets. Can then kust take them out and hose down. Stable matting is far from cheap (had two stables to do) and is very heavy and inflexible as has already been said, avoid!

Clarke 240v impact driver any cop ?

reviews are good and it is 50% more powerful than a standard air impact. Not recommended for doing up nuts as it is too aggressive. Also quite bulky. Looks fair value to me and MM have VAT free offer on clarke products till Monday 11th making it better value still.

    TD5 possible hg

Best advice is introduce yourself first, then put this in the right section, theres lots of help available on here but this isn't the right way of going about getting it. Commas and full stops are free and readily available on your keyboard, using them makes your posts much...

    Carbon monoxide inside the car

On the assumption that this can only come from the exhaust there must be a leak somewhere. Might be worth partially blocking the exhaust to try and locate a leak but would have thought Harwoods would have thought of that.

    l/r spot light wiring

Ours had the LR box of tricks and as is common was playing up. £100 for new box, I just rewired with old fashioned switch and relay and they are now totally reliable. I have an odd switch on the dashboard, but am not bothered it's a 13 year old car that was bought as a utility...

    Defender or glorified Milk Float?

The Chrysler one was on a gymbol, but had a habit of exploding so they gave up, shame todays technology may make it safely possible. The flywheel also ran in a vacuum

    disco td5 series 2 turbo

I've got a really great idea, put a post in the new members introduction section before the forum police jump all over you then repost or ask a mod to put this in the Disco section or TD5 section. Welcome aboard, it's a great forum but there is a protocol to follow!!!

    Defender or glorified Milk Float?

It's a half hearted effort in my view, it retains the standard axles, gear boxes and propshafts all of which are very inefficient. A proper effort would have a motor on each wheel, get rid of the live axles and get far more ground clearance and simulate CDL electronically - BIG increase in...

    D2 Headlamps

I dont think they are especially easy to nick but they are expensive and fetch good money on ebay. Wonder whether any owners end up buying their own lights back?????

    Disco 2 battery

Well the standard battery is an 072 which is around 550CCA and 68 AH which does seem a bit marginal for the TD5 lump, albeit mine hasnt been a problem as I keep it on trickle charge in the cold weather. In looking for a replacement the 019 seemed good at 830CCA and 95AH but whilst it would fit...

    Park Brake Module Fault

There is a dedicated D3 forum and I suspect you will get more info there. Do put an introduction in the new members section on here or you will get a right bashing from certain senior members. I really dont get the D3 and 4, fabulous cars no doubt but maintaining them appears to be utterly...

    rough value??

Very difficult to value, best way is to punch the details in autotrader and look at similar vehicles for sale and concentrate on those that actually sell, do the same on ebay with completed listings and that will give you a good guide. I have seen many on here reckon you can pick one like...

    Disco 2 to a Disco 3....

A good warranty................... And do a search on Disco 3 forum, there's a section on common faults, it's quite a big section...... Either the turbo or EGR replacement requires the body taking off the chassis, not a cheap repair. How about a rechassis for the Disco 2 for around £4k...
