Pinking... but high CO at MOT?!?

Thanks, bought one from a breaker on ebay with a warranty/proven good etc etc as the price for genuine Sagem/Lucas new ones is frankly shocking! LR direct price is over a grand from landrover! so we'll see whats what when it turns up. Also bought a fuel pressure reg along with a service kit as...

Pinking... but high CO at MOT?!?

Ok, Maf cleaned out with good old brake cleaner and dried. checked the rest of the inlet while I was in there and its spotlessly clean. Possibly the placebo effect but it feels a little smoother to be honest, not so sluggish when cold but still pinking like mad when you put your foot down any...

Pinking... but high CO at MOT?!?

Thank diesel do, just the kind of reply I was hoping for. Think it'll be eBay for a Maf then, I'll try cleaning this one as I've nothing to lose if it doesn't work and best case I'll have a spare. I'll report back what happens.

Pinking... but high CO at MOT?!?

My thoughts exactly. Unfortunately I'm more used to a good old distributor and a timing light! Can anyone explain how the gems engine retards and advances the ignition? Crank or cam sensor? From my understanding its the cam sensor As for LPG, I don't have it fitted and don't intend to. As...

Pinking... but high CO at MOT?!?

HC? I never knew landrover fitted any of the range rovers with HC versions of the V8... guess everydays a school day!

Pinking... but high CO at MOT?!?

Well it does pink less with petrol from the JET petrol station and more so with ASDA fuel. The pinking started when the water pump seal failed. Managed to catch it before it cooked as I was sitting on the drive if that can help shed some light on anything. I do wonder if all that boiling...

Pinking... but high CO at MOT?!?

Hi guys, I'm at a loss! Put the range rover in for its MOT last week. Pretty certain it was going to fail but it had to be done! Well it thankfully only failed on balljoints passenger side and high CO (0.49 first run fast idle and 0.35 second run fast idle) on its Emission test. Its a 95 4.0...

    Oil, some basic advice

Seen a few threads on here regarding oil so thought I would share an article written from another forum I use. None of my own work so I'll take no credit but a good education for anyone who has an interest in what they are pouring in their engine. No idea if this is the bast place for it...

Defo my drivers side cat, if your under the car it sounds like a bag of spanners banging around in it! Probably not the right thread to ask but are the cheapos on ebay any good? £160 seems like a total bargain... to good to be true?

    Year of the CAT.

Can't see the MOT folks being that thorough, if it looks like its got cats and passes emission are they really going to dig deeper? I was tempted to de cat mine as they are rattling like mad! Guess I'll be putting new cats back on then!

    Stupid newbie question, drivetrain noise

I haven't to be honest, how often does this need done? any recommendation on which grease to use? Tires have been checked as I originally thought it could be a stone caught in the tread and they're fine and the pressures get checked once a week cos i'm anal like that! :o

    Rear end

Mine does this Gazza62 as my drive is on a slope and angled to the side. to stop it playing silly buggers with the self leveling I drop it to access mode eveytime I park... helps the missus to as she's only a wee thing! As for the paranoia, thats just part of the range rover owning...

    Stupid newbie question, drivetrain noise

Ok guys, still pretty new to this 4x4 stuff and tried a search but to no avail... not sure I'm even looking for the right thing to be honest. But ever keen to learn... Noticed an odd noise coming from the range rover (95 4.0l) been there for a week or so now. The only way to describe it is a...

    to re-sync or not?

When I had to put in the EKA code into my 95 I had to arse around a fair bit. Final proceedure that worked was to put the key in the ingnition till it came up with the engine imobilised message. take out the key and hop out. Do the 4 turns to the left and look for the indicators and carry on...
