Yep, only 16 on the road or something like that! I got £450 for it in the state you see above- and I've sold on the Ifor williams canopy so didn't actually lose anything. The guy who bought it knows landys (he has quite a few I'm told!) including a 1-ton, and as far as I know he plans to rebuild...

Just to conclude this, due to a change in circumstances coupled with an influx of other Landys that are actually running, I sold this on (twice!) and it got collected yesterday on a crane heading to the North East! It's the fastest it's moved in years!

Just thought I'd post an end to this story... Had a bit of a think and decided I'd never be entirely happy with that disco, too many little bits wrong with it, that go hand in hand with it being parked in a field for the past 4 years... Picked this up yesterday and loving it so far! 300tdi ES...

I had this with my old 2 1/4 petrol, the leads were starting to break down at the connections on the ends, creating high resistance and heat. Wouldn't start until it all cooled down and then it'd run ok again for about half an hour and give up again. Ended up replacing it with a 200TDi i had...

The one in my RRC has ****ed me off to the point where it will become my coffee table. That engine doesn't deserve to ever run again....

Are you getting a decent earth through the mounting screws on the tank? Mine were rusted as anything, replaced with some brass screws I had kicking about on the van and it sprung into life...

Spend more than 2 quid each on them too, the cheap ones are awful...

I'd have been more scared of something getting sucked in and munched, than diesel runaway!

Also I thought running on sump oil was illegal or something? Got a few hundred litres of the stuff thats all...

Can't confirm the same for TD5 engines, but generally with stuff i've worked on, disconnecting the Mass Airflow Sensor means the ECU "guesses" how much air is coming in and usually overfuels like mad, and kills lambda sensors/catalytic converters... Again, not played with TD5s but I'd try...

As above you don't need to remortgage your house and use defender bits, 300tdi manifold & turbo fits straight on, with 300tdi turbo oil pipes

I planned to whack in a full-fat 200TDi, using 300TDi manifold & turbo. Bought most of the bits to do it. If you want a pretty much "off the shelf" jobbie, do this, as everything pretty much bolts together. 300TDi manifold bolts on, exhaust from Steve Parker to suit using said manifold, the...
