    Abs / srs lights

From memory to get at the srs light you need to remove the back of the cluster and the remove a small sub panel behind either the speedo or rev counter a haynes manual has the details, there is a plastic lens attached to the sub panel with 2 bulbs in, its doable in other words My srs light...

Disco 1 300tdi ticking/tapping noise. Your opinions please.

My 300tdi sounds awful to me and taps away (its not the lift pump or lift pump) but ive showed it to a few people who,ve owned a 300tdi and they reckoned it sounded fine! So first t hing i suppose is to listen to another one before deciding its noisy. But i still cant help thinking theres...

    300 tdi auto wont start

I had similar issue but no misfiring before not starting it turned out to be a the fuel shut off solenoid valve was not getting power ive not worked out where the fault is yet it could be the alarm or simply a broken wire in the harness so to to rule those out id do what james martin suggests...

Cuts out all of a sudden???

If diesel could be fuel stop solenoid or wiring fault affecting same the solenoid needs constant power otherwise engine cuts out

Sad day - broke down. No go!!

Mine failed to start today, 3rd time, this time it didnt fix itself before i could check what was wrong and the fuel stop solenoid is getting volts but not enough power to make it work. Intermittantly dies

There will a electrically operated fuel cut off valve somewhere on your engine, your problem could be a loose connection to it as it needs a constant 12v to keep the engine going, on my 96 300tdi without EDC or EGR its on the rear of the injection pump and has a single black wire to it, that...

    abs light reset

I don't HAVE to remove the ABS relay on my 96 TDI either, but I thought MAYBE removing it ensures there is no damage to other parts of the ABS system that might be caused by the "blinking" or intermittent current that occurs during the diagnostics? Does anyone know what the ABS relay controls...

    Rust and checkered metal

Another suggestion....most of the work in weld jobs is in the preparation BEFORE the welding starts and with patience you could probably do that prep work and save cash even if you get the welding done by a pro. What I do is: 1. Cut out rust (tin snips, angle grinder etc) 2. Trace the outline...

2nd time 300tdi would not start just got towed

I've just searched the Land Rover workshop manual for 95 onwards, I can't find info on the stop solenoid/cut off valve etc (except for the EDC/ECM models - not mine - and even that info. is really vague) but I guess there must be a electrically operated valve somewhere to stop the engine when...
