If the seats are standard it could be a sort of throw back from the older models. The same as they still have the indents for the flaps and no flaps under the windscreen. Just a guess though and it seems strange they went to the trouble of putting a lid on it if you can't get to it.

You don't actually need tow mirrors, just push the mirrors out, that's why they have a towing position. If not you can fit wolf mirrors which are 3 inches longer I believe.

Because each diff will send power to the side with the least resistance. In this case, the side with no prop. You're right that usually you would not drive in lock.

Just get the cheapest paddocks 3 piece one. It's solid and looks the business. Only thing I'd say is I don't like the gap between the bumper and guard so i might put my number plate there.
