How do you know the valves are closed on No1 without removing the rocker cover again? Thanks

Hello again....... :o Just finished the head gaskets on my V8 3.9 but now it wont start.......not sure where to start, have checked all the obvious connections that i might have disturbed doing the heads. Any help appreciated.

Hello, I hope someone can help.......I'm trying to fit a new exhaust to my classic - centre box, pipe and back box. The problem i can not get the rubber hangers to go over the brackets on the car or the exhaust. Any tips please?? Thanks

I've got a broken down RRC in the garage ready to do nothing if it snows. At least it has 50 litres of petrol in it so if i get really cold, i can just set fire to it :(

I'd go and have a poke around but i'm a total novice at this so need to tag along with a few who know what they're doing.......i doubt the AA would be interested in my call for help! I've looked around at a couple of local clubs but most people seem to be more interested in going to shows.

I could do that....but the bolts are in there and don't come out! I'm gonna take it to the local LR mechanic tomorrow where i should have taken it in the first place and see if he can do it......

Rear wheels are on the ground. Fronts are on the ramps still.....

So i've got the VC out and back in.....next question is how to tighten the flange nut without a special tool to hold the flange. If i try it with the case back in the car, it just turns. I cant tighten it out of the car because i can't secure the casing or hold the flange. Hope thats clear?!

If 1 front is up then then i should be able to turn the other if my VC was working OK. So if i pick up 1 fron and 1 rear, then those 2 should rotate......as if you'd lost traction on 1 front and 1 rear when driving? The diffs on the axles don't lock.....

I cant...only 2 axle stands!!

Thanks for the reply. The problem is i cant get to the 2 top bolts on the joint between the transfer box and the prop shaft. The shaft needs to be rotated but i can't find a way to do that....if i raise 1 front and 1 rear wheen off the ground, would that enable me to rotate the shaft??

If i raise 1 front wheel and 1 rear wheel off the ground in my RRC with a VC in the transfer box, should i be able to turn one or other of those wheels? Thanks...

Someone must have taken a propshaft off before?!?! Anyone pleeeeeeeeease.....

I'm trying to repalce the VC today. I'm stuck trying to remove the propshaft from the flange. Do you need to be on a ramp so you can rotate the wheels to be able to get to the top 2 bolts? I'm using drive on ramps so i cant move the car or turn the wheels.......please help!!

Right, I've ordered a new VC...thanks for the offers of transfer boxes but with my limited knowledge or RR's it might have been a bit too complicated. Sre there any special tools needed to change the VC apart from standard sockets/spanners etc? Thanks
