Washed it! Don't worry didn't use a sponge or none of that crap, just TFR and a Pressure washer.

And a fork lift for washing underneath! Dug out plenty mud and found only the minorest of surface rust on some little parts of the chassis and elsewhere. Wire brushed it where it had some old waxoyl and sprayed with some converrust ready for a coating of dinitrol wax underneath to last for a year or two :D


Fork lift helped to test articulation, seems I've got plenty :)

Stripped the boot floor and wir brushed it all. Treated it with rust treatment, and then hamerited it all.

no it takes the shock load out of the engine torque through the gearbox.making gear changes smoother.supposedly.pain in the arse they are.nothing wrong with a good old fashioned flywheel.

Oh yah,I was thinking of the dsg system.

I just got pulled over by unmarked police in Spalding, apparently "these types of vehicles are being nicked a lot at the mo" genuine reason but still made my bum hole clench :p just had to confirm my address and I was on my way.

Had to rearrange the post office ram raid tho.......:rolleyes:
 
Spent part of the weekend making a new seat cover out of some old canvas. Now I just gotta make another :eek:

This w/e: investigated binding brake on rear right. Found little tear in piston bellows and heavily corroded surface on piston. Spose I could muck about with an seal overhaul kit and an emery cloth, but after the brute force and ignorance I used to get to a diagnosis my guess is the piston bore is going to by pretty much nadgered. So new caliper today and with luck back on the road

While the weather was good and she was going nowhere, I got underneath and found the other dangling SLS sensor connector from when the spring conversion got done by the dealer. Rinsed it off with electrical contact cleaner, then stuffed it into the finger of a rubber glove with half a pot of vaseline and some cable ties to keep it all sealed up. My plan is to stop salty road spray from making the circuit and causing her to chime at 20mph+. That said, seems kinda useful to know you have salty water spraying on your chassis when it's a D2 :eek:
 
Undid the drain plug on the T-box to find brown water and black tar coming out! Filled with EP90 only to find it pouring back out around the front flange :( That'll be new seals to do now then!
Drained and filled the gearbox with MTF94 ... all good on that one! Diffs and engine next!
 
I opened the door, opened the vents, and sunroof. Then closed the door. Later I repeated the motion but closing to vents and sunroofs. Air it out abit. That's all I've done today :D
 
thought i better wash the inside out with hose pipe abut 2 inches deep with silt and found another hole in passenger footwell oh dear i loves me disco :D;)
 
Noticed a bit of vibration last week so on Friday I got under it and found the rear uj on the front prop was knacked. I removed the shaft and found the sliding joint completely seized up, managed to get it apart with jacks and big hammers found the coating on the splines coming away in pieces had seized the shaft right up. I think the seized joint had buggered the uj.
Went to local LR parts place this morning and picked up a propshaft, fitted and tested seems all good, I will be pleased if the new shaft does as well as the old one, it seemed to be original, 23 years aint too silly.
I love removing and replacing propshafts for me it is one of those quintessential Landy jobs, not really changed since 48 and so zen to lie under there with the two little spanners :)
 
Drove to Watford Warner Bros studios to the Harry Potter studio tour which was really good. The old series ran perfect, kept between 50 & 60 all up and down the A1.
Made the girlfriend open the window under the galleria tunnel, v8 full throttle under load made some noise! :D
Must get the door seals replaced thou, can't feel my right leg yet and been back indoors for about half hour now :(
