Fitted a new lights switch. Yesterday in the snowy blizzard i was driving along holding the lights switch down to make 'em stay on, which was a bit of a worry so I spent £14 on a new one.

Today fitted the piece of electronic kit produced by member David Pye that lets me raise and lower the rear air suspension at the flick of a switch. Great for loading heavy items. Works a treat.

Also finally sealing up the front sunroof after trying all the solutions to fix it. Given it up as a bad job and a waste of time.

Sunroof will poss be my next job what u seal it with ? .... Have some new gas struts and rear pads and discs to fitted in the morning

Changed gearbox oil so see if it would sort out the gear stick feeling like I'm stirring thick treacle when it's warm, it's better but not completely cured. Idk what it is.

Found a leak or two while underneath too!

Leaky diff, any ideas if this is a simple fix or a sign that a big jobs needs to break out?

Swapped the speedo so i have a working speedo :D

Fixed the temperature gauge so now it works :D:D

Replaced some bulbs so now I can see the new speed and the fixed temperature gauge at night.

An hour well spent.

Last drive for a wile today... gone in for a new head gasket... or possibly head :( See what he finds ? !!

Just had an up date.... head gasket has blown.. but there is a corrosion pocket in the head face, were the water jacket from the block meets the head (no cross over to the head at this point). So will drag the spare out of the shed tomorrow and have a shufty at that... get it cleaned up and take it over to the man.

It blew out at the back the last time ! About 2 years ago when I was on holiday in St.Ives (Cornwall) !! Got me home though... all the way back to the Flat Lands :D

Got the gearbox and then transfer box back in today. So much easier in two parts. uploadfromtaptalk1360963463831.jpg

Filled with oil and fired up the engine and tried all gears and all works great, zero whine now but there's no load as yet to put the prop's back on.
Very stiff to change gears but I'm sure they'll loosen up ;)

Replaced drop arm on the defender - Buster is right - it is a sh*t of a job. Angle grinder, puller, cold chisel, hammer - 5 hours later job done:high5:

Tried to line up new PS pump, only to find that the pulley needs to be about 7mm further out!
Need to get some pulley pullers!

Moved the new gearbox out of the car and into the storeroom

input shaft wants a little rub down and lick of paint but thats it :)

gonna coat the rest too though just because theres a little surface rust forming

Gearbox is now ready for painting :) going to do some of my electronics assignment then spend an hour with the gearbox getting it sorted
