You waiting for recovery? Or still drives.

Did @My Old Landy not have the correct spares.

@neilly have you got back ok?

All good, home safe and all fixed, had to buy a recip saw to cut through the lower ink bolts as they were well and truly seized, but all good now thanks.

These bushes being bearmach cranked arms have a special upper bush, the internal diameter on the poly part is not the same as the std units.

Cheers

We lost another one just outside of Northampton (the military 90) but I think everyone else made it :)
We have stopped for something to eat just outside of MK :D

Blimey , you are running late. Hope everyone else gets to the end.

I heard it was timing belt on the 90, is that so?

Cheers

Finally got round to changing the oil and filters, all carried out without any drama or anything going wrong, like centrifugal oil filter threads stripping, even managed to get cartridge oil filter off without a struggle and new one spun straight back on, must be my lucky day.

Went to fit the new rear plate lamp. Found it wanted bullet connectors instead of the lucars on the wiring. Bought some bullet connectors. Currently scratching head about crimping them. Cheapest "Bullet crimpers" I can find are nearly 10x the price of another rear plate lamp. Wondering if my pike trace crimpers will work.. :D

(Quite a few) years ago I worked for AMP (the connector co). I remember touring the factory of a well known motorbike manufacturer and they were using filed out cutting pliers... and they wondered why their reliability was so poor compared to their Japanese competitors

Started trimming a piece of metal to fit into a hole on the series 3 bulkhead. Then trimmed it a bit more etc etc, then went in for tea before going up the pub.

Loaded my roofrack up with the merry, merry pipes and set off for my smallholding:

Unfortunately as I headed west, I only got as far as the Coleshill turn off when the wipers stopped working.
I stopped in Coleshill and had a bit of a fiddle, tried different fuses, and discovered that there was no sign of 12V on any of the multiplug terminals at the wiper motor. OK, I'll limp home between the showers on the minor roads. But I got as far as Nuneaton and started emitting steam. On lookng under the bonnet it was clear that there was a major coolant leak. OK, time to call the AA. The man came out and put loads of water in and eventually the leak was apparent. It's only a hose, thank goodness. Temporarily patched, so that was good. Then he fixed the wipers. Apparently, although they didn't work with any of my spare fuses, they did with one of his. I feel such an idiot. Maybe it was just dirt on the contacts in the fusebox. Alternatively I might have another of those intermittent wiring loom faults which plague my Land Rover. Anyway, I've come home again, complete with pipes and an awaiting delivery of the correct hose, not wanting to attempt a long journey on a patched one.
