Since the rebuild I've never put a spare wheel back on. Had a swing away carrier before, but gave it away to a member of LZ. Never fancied full weight wheel back on.
So, I've put a standard carrier on today.

On to which I'm mounting a false wheel I've made out of ply.

It's very light. I need to add some spacers on the back to keep it off the wiper arm then paint it. My mate has given me a wheel cover, so it'll look real once on.

Just foolishly changed out the wiper arm adapters, well the passenger one. Damn grub screw needed drilling out in typical defender style. Done now but I’m frozen.

Gorgeous day up North today. Was working on my false spare wheel earlier. Was out in a T shirt and the sun was burning me. :D

Drilled out the grub screw on the drivers side wiper and replaced to adapter. Replaced the lower door seal which sandwiches between the body and the door. Tomorrow the other side.

I also sorted out me tools and had a general tidy up.

Took her for a blast over the beach today. Got home, I noticed some rust forming on the bulkhead by the accelerator pedal. Quite a bit of rust actually. I’m surprised I didn’t see it before.

So I guess tomorrow I’ll be driving to town to get some of this stuff

I was going to scrub it down with a wire brush back to bare metal, apply, wait then paint.

Anything I’m missing or any tips?

You should box it in & have it as a storage compartment for landy gear...tow ropes an the likes ;)

Cutting and tearing out the drivers side footwell on the series 3. Got a new pillar and top corner of the bulkhead welded in . I went a bit wild with the flap disc but a bit of body filler will hide it. Pics later .
