After several weeks of saving I finally managed to fit an important new upgrade.....

I have made up the most awkwardly shaped Patch I could. then Watched BB weld it to the 110.

& while he was doing that I was stick welding the door piece onto me noo Gas Bottle wood burner..

first time in 5years that the stick welder has been fired up. and the 2nd time only that I've used it. Don't think it's too bad. Won't win any awards and has a few Pin holes in it. (I know cos it leaked when I filled it with water to test it. :eek:) But it's a wood burner for use at the shows or on weekend laning trips. Just needs legs and a flue 300 TDI downpipe is looking like the main candidate at the Mo. :D.

Finally got a round tuit and removed, cleaned and re-greased rear wheel bearings and re-set them, they were a tad loose. Replaced rear brake pads, still 4mm of material on, but with Lakes coming up I didn't want to take a chance. Broke a brake pipe when the 13mm caliper bolt socket slipped .. so replaced that too .. Stuff happens.

Took it for a drive and all feels good .. ;)

Tomorrow I must drop the rear diff oil and check it .. the offside halfshaft looked 'dry' compared to the nearside .. might just change oils in it .. see what happens ..

Hopefully new front shocks will arrive to be fitted, only got cheap **** Britpart, £22 a pair I think, but I only need them to last a month and they have to be better than what's on .. and although I ordered HD steering rods Paddocks didn't have 'em in stock so refunded me .. but slightly differently! I is better off a little now .. ;)
 
Small but satisfying jobs today:

Fitted new Midland CB. Took a while modifying, shaping and filing the bracket to fit the mount to my satisfaction but got there in the end:

Then hammerited rusting section of metal in the rear just inside the rear door, also the top seat belt fixing points but no pictures of there:

Fitted a new, genuine rotoflex...but will have to get my local garage to fit the damn bushing in the back of the propshaft. I don't have access to a cold chisel/ powerful enough dremel etc.
Vibration better that it was before, and the old rotoflex was cracking just about everywhere, but not too deep. So, the new donut was definitely a good thing! :cool:

Wired up my 2 work lights, still needing to complete one of the switches tomorrow as need more bits from the local shop but nearly there. Hate wiring with a passion. :(
 
Replaced a pair of nackered front shocks with ****parts finest, delivered today from Paddocks. I'd had reservations about the ride for a while, and the drivers side shock moved about 3" without any damping, the nearside didn't move as much .. at all!! Piston rod was burred and scratched, I suspect rocks 'cos the plastic skirt thing was also fecked .. ;)

Also replaced the air filter properly (only cleaned it a couple of weeks ago) and the fuel filter.
 
Fitted a new air filter which arrived today. I have now found what the hissing sound was under the bonnet. Turbo hose split. Tried to repair it with super glue until the new hoses arrive which I have ordered.
The glue seems to work, it has stopped the black smoke when under load.

duct tape would be a better choice for a temporary repair ;)

I tried that but the turbo just blew it off. Plus the hose is very oily. I was going to use the Duck tape and use a bandage to hold it on. I will see how long the super glue last. Paddock usually only take about four days to reach us here in France.
