I'm going to try my fob with the key in the ignition next time I'm in it. In my mind I'm sure I've operated the locks with the fob whilst the key is in, but maybe not!
It turns out what I should have done is lock the doors while sitting in the car then open the drivers door and lock it with the key, that way the car is locked with the ignition turned on.

Can confirm it works with mine, daughter has done this a few times when I'm in the shop!
 
Ign pos 1 or 2? I need it to work while the ignition is on pos 2.
She's done it multiple times in position 1, I'm pretty sure she's also done it with the engine running so was in position 2.

Hopefully someone else can check as I won't be home until tomorrow to check.

Just checked on mine… @Alibro you are correct in your original explanation.
The only way for this to work is; with my key on pos 2, from inside use the lock button to lock all doors, then use the interior handle to open driver door (only), exit then lock driver door from outside with spare key.

Other combinations either don’t work or send the central locking system into a tiz. Fob does nothing with ignition on.
 
Due to the dreaded Covid I've spent the day removing spider webs from basically every nook and cranny , for some reason my freelander seems to be a haven for spiders , inside, outside, under the bonnet, even the shockers are covered, blitzed the inside with peppermint oil hopefully that will work

Even if it doesn’t, at least the webs will smell like polos

Must've only been with engine off then, sorry memory isn't the best 😩
 
My gidjet worked a dream. Replaced power steering juice, see pic, looked like gravy in there.

Wife had a good suggestion. Said why don't you put a hoover on the end of the tube, tried it and worked wonders pulling the oil out. Emptied it 4 times, full lock before each time and on the last one it looked like it had all pretty much flushed through so very happy about that.

Well done. I'll need to do mine now so I HAVE to get a bottle of whiskey because I mean that's the only bottle I can use right 😉

Despite it being far less refined than the little Bimmer I'm currently running as my daily, and despite the loud hum of the rear diff, knocking ball joint and occasionally clicking CV joint, I didn't half enjoy the drive. Nice light steering, great elevated position, nice comfy leather. I'm looking forward to getting it tip top!

Replaced the alternator on my td4 sport. It appears to have worn through the brushes and most of the slip rings in 59k miles.

Started as a slow to kick in charge then flashed the battery light at me twice then failed !

What a pain the facelift wrap under bumper is. Had to remove the front bumper to get at the air con compressor and then the alternator. Only done pre-facelift before. Glad I replaced all screws and bolts on the bumper with stainless when I got the car. Saved hours today ! 🙂20240702_210448.jpg20240702_210441.jpg

How many miles have your alternators done??
I think 60k is low. I appreciate it is engine revs but mileage is a reasonable approximation.

My car has done 140000 but don't know how many times it's ever been changed but I'm thinking it's on its way out as the brand new wiper motor runs slow also battery drain after 4/5 days but I don't drive it basically just start run 20 mins then off again
