Today I did some investigations into my coolant loss.
I used CO2 detection fluid in the test pot, but even after 20 of running there did seem to be a slight change an colour, but it's hardly conclusive.

Also no pressure built up in those 20 minutes, even with the OBD2 live data showing up to 90°C.

Investigations will continue.

Treated the absolutely filthy Freelander to an IMO cheapo wash.
Now looking infinitely better!
Bought and topped up OAT Anti-freeze.
Bought upholstery cleaner with intention of attacking the manky, stained cloth upholstery. Previous owner said he'd never cleaned it since buying it:eek:
Glowered at the droopy roof lining material and wondered if I'd been "beamed up" to my P38 :D
Watched the fuel gauge move south much quicker than I'd anticipated after only 85 miles of travel. Will brim fill it tomorrow and keep fingies crossed until I re-brim when necessary to establish the TD4's thirst.

Today I took delivery of a special loom which is used to power a dash cam under CJB control.
Unfortunately I still can't post pictures on the forum. :(
Have you tried copying and pasting photos?
Blue Beastie advised they had changed servers and had issues with uploads

Have not been impressed with the performance I've been getting with my 'new' head which I fitted a few months ago. [98 FL1 K series 1.8] Car drives okay but it seems to lack the same, dare I say, 'punch' on those hills and seemed to require changing down sooner. Hmmm So in the last few days I fitted a 52mm throttle body. Yes it is much more responsive to the throttle pedal now. It will be interesting to see how this goes when I'm on a long journey in a week more two. You have to remember I've done some tweaking to my head to make it breath better.

It was WoF time today [equals your MoT] failed on a rear wheel bearing, didn't know about that! and a worn out FRH lower ball joint. I replaced that this evening from my spares stock! I think I'll get the mechanic to do the wheel bearing. I've done the front LH on twice now and I think wheel bearing are a right phaff to do!

Example link with *** added to break it so you can see the link text.

'57 plate Freelander FL2.
New Exide 110TE battery delivered from Tayna yesterday evening. 12.6V as delivered.
Old battery was down to 11.8V this morning and would not crank the engine over. It was -4 degrees outside.
Removed old battery.
Slotted in the new battery.
Engine turned over and started instantly. Note: Glowplugs are all open circuit and have been for years.
Recalibrated windows.
Went for a drive. Alternator charging at 14.45 volts.
Found car wash closed on account of the low temperatures.
Topped up with £100 worth of diesel at £1 81.9/litre. (Topped up, FFS!)
Got home.
Had lunch.
Checked new battery voltage: 12.7V

Jeepers, £1.81.9 ???? Diesel has been £1.69.9 here for a while now and today I filled up at £1.59.9 in a cheaper area.

Get a keyfuels card. Diesel only.
156.8 per litre this week. Card costs £1 per month.
You get an email each week with the price then decide whether to use it or not.
So far it has been unbeatable.

Does that include VAT? Currently, my Shell Fleet fuel card Diesel price is 128.57ppl excluding VAT, which tips it at 154.28ppl with vat, compared to 174.9ppl at my local shell. However, there were many weeks during the summer when the fuel card was more expensive by the time you added the VAT.

Hmm, I have to replace a wheel bearing on the rear left hand side. There is no way I can get the the hub housing off the drive shaft splines! Tried a puller, heat / cold... I may have to pop the driveshaft out of the diff' and send the whole assembly to an engineers and put it in their 100 tonne press. Only prob' with that is there is a risk of smashing the hub housing.

If you have experienced the same how did you get it to bits?

Detected a new splutter just after turning right at a junction, and a short duration drop in idle speed when sitting at some traffic lights.
The fuel gauge is showing ¼ so maybe that's an indication that the tank transfer pump is misbehaving. :(

The faster LR start selling affordable EVs the better. o_O

I also noticed a strange drumming or humming noise at exactly 50 on 2 occasions while dropping No3 daughter to her friends in Newquay.

This was the same journey where it spluttered after a right turn. It also suffered a drop in idle speed after I turned round at the end of her friends road, I was also greeted with 2 warnings on the dash, 1 saying washer fluid low, 1 saying coolant low The car was at a strange angle so put the warnings down to fluids shifting away from the sensors. The coolant wasn't low once I'd released the pressure in the tank, but I'm struggling to work out where all this pressure is coming from.:(
I'm thinking the spluttering is due to the transfer pump in the tank. It did the dropping idle speed thing a second time while sitting at the traffic lights half way home, it was just a momentary drop.

I've no idea what's making the humming noise at 50 though, I've never heard it before, and it only did it those 2 times.

Yes you mention your wife's car, and turning the radio up is a good idea. ;)
