Nice.
Just curious.
Are those rims hubcentric? They're not LR wheels, and some wheels with the same PCD aren't, which is bad.
Corr, i had a mini heart attack then as I never thought to check that when I bought it. Just have and thankfully yes they are, thanks for that, it would have a bit crap shearing by bolts off at 70

Bought a set of NGK glow plugs. That's tomorrow sorted. Wish me luck!. Going to have a spring clean of the EGR and manifold whilst I'm at it.
Do I need new gaskets for the inlet manifold or can I just refit it?

Found a great way of cleaning EGR and manifold.
A box of dishwasher cleaner, a large plastic box and some very hot water - not boiling.
Take the MAP sensor out first ??
Plug the vacuum connection on the EGR.
Then let the caustic do its stuff.
Rinse and dry well.
I remove, clean and reuse the manifold seals with no problems.

Good luck with the plugs, warm engine, wd40, take it easy and loosen / tighten until free.
I have my wife's TD4 to do plugs on, all open circuit !!! It starts, but puffs a bit until warm.

Hi, I always replace the rubber gaskets when I remove the manifold as they do harden/flatten with age. I did the glow plugs on mine in Nov 20 @ 166,000 miles as it was about the only service item I hadn't done & didn't know if they'd ever been done (turned out they were the original Beru ones). I got it fully warmed up & 3 came out really easy the one on the left (aux belt end) was tight all the way out but with penetrating spray it came out & the new Bosch ones all torqued ok. All I can say is if you get any stubborn ones & you haven't got any cold starting issues I would leave them be (mine were ok & didn't really need changing). Best of luck.

Thanks Andy. I have decent pressure washer at my disposal at the moment so was thinking lots of detergent and some thorough spraying but the dishwasher cleaner sounds good.

Thanks for the tip and duly noted RE the gaskets.

Thanks Andy. Conflicting advice on the gaskets, but good tips on the plugs. I know that mine are at least nine years old and I'm pretty sure they're past their best. I'll let you know how I get on.

When I first got it & had the fun task of cleaning 134,000 miles of crud out of the manifold I re-used the gaskets as they looked ok but next time I looked in that area I noticed it light oily mist round there so on the couple of times I've removed it since I just replaced the gaskets. Not sure how old yours are but if you notice any oily stuff round the o-ring area, as @andyfreelandy says give them a check & if they look ok & haven't hardened re-fit with a smidgen of instant gasket.( I normally put a blob of superglue on them so they stay in place in there recesses on the manifold when re-fitting it)

Fair enough.I'll give it a go without new gaskets for now (as I won't get them in time), on the expectation that I might need them after the job.

Finally had a couple of hours spare to install my LED DRL/fog lamps, which is something I've been wanting to fit since getting the FL2.

DRLs on.

Fogs on.

Spot the difference?

The fogs don't seem to have the same light spread as the original Halogen fogs, but the LEDs are brighter, they'll just need some finer adjustment to make the most of them.

The DRLs, I'm more than happy with, although I think I'm going to open up the holes in the trims, as the trims do seem to mask off a lot of light area.

Thanks Nodge for pointing me the right direction electric powered tail gate is indeed on ali baba £339 looks ok has anyone fitted them or will I be the guinea pig
Thanks in advance all comments welcome

I think you'll be the ali baba guinea pig.

I've read about someone who fitted a DS power boot to a later FL2, which shares very similar electronics.
Unfortunately the early FL2 has different electronics, so the DS controls won't fit, although the hardware will be very similar.

Thanks anyway have ordered one will post the results as it goes along
Stay safe not Ali Baba
