Wow. I thought my FL1 SE auto was expensive at £340, because I forgot to change it before the renewal came around. :(

Welding and sealing is all done so now I can finally start putting the car back in my car

Went down the scrapyard, got myself a haul;
  • Grab handle caps
  • The missing carpet retainer
  • Missing panel fasteners
  • A spare tyre cover
It actually looks like a finished vehicle for once
 
Did new drums discs and pads all round, but I didn't get the front left done until today. The others were done Tuesday, but had problems with the slide pin bolts. I didn't change the back shoes as they were almost new. The old discs were terrible, but the drums were good condition inside, and a pile of rusty crud outside. Got silicone vacuum line to go on soon across the turbo and EGR system. I have had the EGR disconnected for a few days,and acceleration seems perkier, but reconnecting it seems to have stopped the puff of smoke on startup in the morning. I need to investigate that some more. I also need to fit the new rear screen regulator, then I can use the boot, it's taped up just now.
 
DAB radio antenna fitted, so I have some decent stations now, if not decent sound quality. DAB broadcasters like to broadcast at poor quality settings and squeeze in more channels on their allocated bandwidth. :mad:
And a five or so inch section of vacuum tube changed, but I cant get the rest done until I fit my tailgate window regulator, as most of my tools are taped up into the boot until the window is done, lol. And I got a couple more bits of the old Nokia car kit removed, at the expense of slicing a finger with a utility knife. I'm rather ticked off that I did something that stupid, but at least it was a fairly shallow cut. The EGR thing isn't apparently the cause of the smoke puff, as it was back today. Maybe it is a cheap supermarket diesel issue, as I had some Esso Special Sauce diesel in there when the smoke had went away, and back on supermarket stuff now. Meh, maybe I'll get around to cleaning the oil from the air intake and intercooler and see what happens.
 
I was going to bleed the clutch, but couldn't be bothered taking the air box off to improve access. The brake fluid in there looks very suspect. I did get the beast muddy with my first bit of greenlaning. I totally didn't do that accidentally, due to being a little bit lost in the country lanes. ;)

At least you'll get most of it back if you sell her on and cancel.
Sometimes you just have to put a line under it and move on. :(

Took wheel arch liners out and front bumper off to fit spot lamp brackets.

While apart I am cleaning, re under sealing, fitting stainless fasteners and screws and will then move on the the front end refurb, shocks, lower arms, powder coated subframes etc..

Will post photos of spotlamps, wanted it to look sensible not like the standard lamp brackets which always look too close together. They look a bit like NHS glasses and I wanted Raybans!!!
 
SORN'd it today, as I'll not be getting time to repair it in the next few months. Seems pointless taxing it, if I can't drive it. :oops:

Fair point there John. By the way, if you eventually move the SE on, do you fancy selling your rear view mirror with the temp set up?
