yesterday...
new oils in IRD, gearbox and engine + oil filter;
new auxiliary belt;
copper greased doors, tailgate and bonnet hinges, checkers and latches;
Fitted a new left side tie rod end and then went for a 20km drive in the dark in 20cm of snow in a forest, looking for our dog! (dog walked back to village anyway after about an hour but I had some great 'white lane' fun in that time!)
son in law and me did the rear tie bars front, back and top one all the rubbers were perished and needed doing on my wife's car also changing the handbrake cables next , the long bolt is terrible to get out on the back ,ended up cutting sections of with a thin grinder disk ,and then drilling the rest out of the hub.
washed it and looks like I have cured the leak on the back door lock/catch side but still leaking a bit on the hindge side. Reason I washed it is I had the hosepipe out testing the seal repair as it hasn't rained for a while and thought it rude not to. LOL
Well I have now got my recon VCU and support bearings on order from Bells so that is sort of of 'fixed' (just need to put it all together) so today I had a look at what else needs doing. I knew on buyng this fun challenge that the ABS light wasnt working and just checked today what other warning lights dont work ...yes of course it is as you say here the three amigos! Lets get the the transmission sorted first and then I will get onto the brake stuff! I bought the car for my wife to drive when I am away and for us to cart kayaks around in the summer so it wont get a huge amont of work but given its generally excellent condition I want it to last a few years. Building up my tool collection as we speak
