And apparently the cause of the heavy steering

Where did you buy the wishbone arms from?

Have had problems with ball joint rubber boot only lasting about 9 months and then disintegrating. I used IM Axles.

I am now replacing all rubber boots from all suppliers with poly boots as I hate doing the job again so soon !

Bushes from eBay seem excellent quality
Arms from local supplier
The old bushes seized solid so god knows last time they got done ? I have owned it for 3 years
The steering is so much better it’s worth the money for that alone never mind the safety issues

I've had the same issue Andy. I've actually got a new wishbone in storage, minus the ball joint boot, as I "borrowed" the boot for another wishbone which was only a few months old.
 
Front brake pads done today. Spotted a very slight weeping of brake fluid on the nearside caliper. Nipped up the hose bolt but will be inspecting tomorrow to make sure, whilst I'm changing the engine oil.

I bought some wishbones from Advanced Factors a two or three years ago. The boots seem to be fine so far.
 
Fuel filter change, air filter change, oil and oil filter change. Topped the screen wash up and added rainex. Even with eye makeup remover I can't get the oil marks off my arm.
 
I used to use that and washing powder. Will try again later. Thanks Nodge
It's painful, but it works.

Unfortunately diesel oil is rather full of ultra fine particles, which bed deeply into the skin. On the plus side, we shed skin all the time, so even if you can't fully remove all the oil stains, the skin which is stained will be changed in a week or so, so it's not all bad. ;)

I'm not worried about things hurting, I'm not that precious.
 
Cracked my near side tail light and broke the guard because some duffer in a corsa thought they were driving a bus down a narrow lane! Grrrr

Don't you just hate it when that happens.
I had a similar thing happen last weekend, but luckily mine just suffered from hedgerow rash, where I had to tuck in tight, oh and the LH door mirror folded in, proving they can be folded manually without damage, even though they're power fold mirrors.

I must admit that the standard of driving these days is deteriorating rapidly. :mad:

I changed the Haldex fluid, well it was last weekend actually, but forgot to post it.
This is the second Haldex fluid change in 3 months, as the shudder began again when pulling away.
There's definitely something up with the Haldex, but the pump is working just fine when I bench test it.
I've managed to brake the clip that keeps the motor plug in the ECM, so now I've got a message telling me that TR isn't available when I start the engine.

So I've got to fix that, but when I can get another 13.4V power supply, I'm going to do update the Haldex software, and run a Haldex clutch calibration routine, which I've seen on SDD somewhere.

Give me a VCU any day.
