My garage is barely largely enough for the 1929 M-type currently parked in it! LOL

And that's a Midget by another name I think!!! Got a Busch 2 post coming on 20th Sept. Useful for slight lift and wheels off too. Getting a bit old for lots of pumping!! :oops:
 
It is indeed - the very first of the Midget breed :) It's a family heirloom - and I need to fix it before petrol runs out ;)
 
Yesterday actually. I stripped out most of my additions to my TD4, and started preparing it for sale.

Oh and I bought a Tonga green 1.8 XEi CAT N insurance write off as a replacement for my SE. Hopefully it'll be a suitable replacement for the next year or so.

I will miss the auto box when it's working. However it's a bloody liability when it's not.

I won't miss the TD4 engine though, as it's a horrible noisy, smelly, vibration causing thing.

I'll miss the nice leather interior, and especially the heated front screen and heated seats.

However I need reliable transport, and I'm at the end of my tether with this gearbox fault, which I'm not convinced is a gearbox issue, but without any codes, it's impossible to tell.
 
Oil, oil filter and fuel filter done today, along with a good clean and sort out.

I wasn't looking forward to doing the fuel filter as I was expecting it to not want to come out. As it happened it went well, apart from one of the bolts on the housing no longer having a head left. It didn't matter though as the rivets holding that bracket on had also turned to dust so I was able to extract the assembly without too much of an issue. Corrosion can occasionally be an ally as well as an enemy it would seem.

I also managed to find a bolt to fit in the under tray front bracket where one had obviously been missing for some time. I was hoping it would result in my unidentified knocking noise being resolved, but sadly not. The search goes on.

Thanks. A new gearbox fault has appeared now. It was fine yesterday, but this morning it's going to F4 after a couple of yards. The only thing I did between then and now, was remove the centre console so I could fit the original radio. Maybe my fault is in the gear selector area? I'm going to pull it out, so I can take a closer look at the circuit board mounting on it.

It's always a worry when doing jobs and you have to remove components to do other things. My fuel pump didn't prime when I refitted the assembly. Fortunately the connector was a bit dodgy. A bit of cleaning on the terminals sorted it and it was soon back together and running. Maybe a check of the selector might resolve your long standing issue and hopefully you've just been led up the garden path at the gearbox end. :)

I'm hoping so, although I strongly suspect that it's got 2 faults now. :(

So do I Rob. I'm going to remove the gear selector mechanism, so I can take a good look at the circuit board. I'm beginning to suspect a bad solder joint on the board somewhere.

I've also noticed that all the ball joint boots are split, which is a PITA, as I replaced every joint 2 years ago. :mad:
but am looking forward to seeing pictures of the new one! :D

I'll put up pictures in due course.

Although maybe you'll get to see it, if you're coming down later in the years?;)
