oh i completed my front end facelift too :)

the wiring was pretty easy. No relay needed (god know what others have been on about) all working fine :)

how did you get the dipped beam to stay on with high beam?

usual way is relay & diode.
 
Electrics.. fiddled with wires till it all worked. Didn't use a meter.. just the oohhhh it sparks approach.

Don't ask me how for I know not


When the magic smoke comes out the piping I just know it's stuffed

Passed it's MOT. Removed DAP rock sliderz and 3 door roof rails. Removed a mint spare wheel carrier from a replacement tailgate on my rally Freelander . All for sale , open to offers..............
 
Decided to trade in my completely trustworthy (!) and known 2001 Blue Hippo in for an unknown 2005 green version of same.........:eek:

Hope its as good as my old one with 122,000 miles on it .

Insured it.

Hope your replacing all 4 or at least the 2 new ones on the rear. We have had enough of diff,vcu and ird problems recently
 
Started stripping down the Freelander today to change the clutch.

Part way through the job and I realised that everything that needs disconnected/unbolted on the gearbox side is 95% of everything to the complete engine. It was only a few more water hoses and the power steering pipes to disconnect to allow me to drop the entire drivetrain out.


So ten more minutes work to save a lot of arse-ache later balancing a gearbox on my chest and trying to bench-press it into place and wiggling it to get the splines to engage while getting bits of crud in my eyes. Instead I can put it together with ease on the floor and lift it all in.

It had been apart before judging by the odd random non-matching bolt here and there, and the existing system is a bit odd....its got a dual mass flywheel so should have a solid clutch disc but it ALSO has a sprung clutch disc.....meh, whatever. I will bung on a solid flywheel kit and thats that done. The clutch disc is worn to the rivets and the flywheel has a fair bit of play in it. It was well and truly on its last legs.

Decided its about time i tackled my small oil leak.... turned into a big headache and alot of time eating small job

Undertray off
Ird and bottom engine mount off
power steering pump off
power steering bracket off

finally able to remove dipstick clean the 2 faces up and put a new gasket on


old gasket was well past it

Oil and filter change. Also swapped all front lamps. Swapped front indicators to chromed bulbs, to get rid of that horrible fried egg look. Brighter H4's and some whiter brighter side lights.

What make h4's you put in. I replaced mine last week with halfords ultimate ones certainly make a difference although i bought some cheap side light ones to match colour and they are poo

also replaced interior light with a led one soooo much brighter


And not forgetting i painted/dyes all the plastics with forever black dye..... will see how long it lasts

Same, Halfords Ultimate. As for the side lights, again Halfords own.
They where either the Ultra Blue or the Laser Blue, I forget which. The colour difference didn't seem all that different during the day.
Haven't had chance to check them out at night yet.
