What is it with Freelander wheels? I've never had a car where the wheels are so difficult to get off the hubs.

It's a common problem with alloy wheels in general ;)
If you rub a small amount of copper grease around the spigot the wheel will come of with ease ;)

To get them off in the first place, secure car on a lift or stands. Plop a wheel nut on the top stud loosely. Get underneath and bang the bottom sidewall with a gert big hammer. I used a sawn off sledge hammer I have with a light tap but with the weight behind it. Wheel came off first tap. If that fails, you can put wheel nuts back on all the way but only hand tight and move the vehicle back and forth and usually the wheel will go bang as it separates, but the nuts will prevent stud damage if done properly.

Did 1 wheel up test.

Replaced "excess" ATF (actually 1.6 litres when I measured it accurately).
Let it get warm, slowly cycled through gears several times, then took it for a drive.
Runs like a dream at the moment, only time will tell...

Well I went green laning yesterday afternoon and evening.
I chucked some water at it during my dinner time to find out I now have a few "go faster" stripes down each side :(
Oh well, lets hope they polish out :D

I got one of those from offloading as well - but it was from an old metal dustbin on a friends driveway... not happy. Going in tomorrow to be sorted.

I replaced the rear passenger side window regulator with a replacement from All makes 4x4, purchased from Barry 4x4.
A couple to tips for anyone else doing this. If one to your cables is snapped so you can't lower the window then cut the other cable to lower the window by hand. The new regulator was supplied in the 'up' position. It needs to be down to reclamp the glass. Before trying to fit it connect the motor and the switch, lower it then disconnect everything and fit it.

Took it for a 15 mile drive (to get a haircut in case some work turns up and I have to see people) then washed it.
Auto box behaved very well, which is good news!

Had tracking checked, front & rear after replacing track rod ends both sides. I knew the tracking was slightly out because the steering wheel angle had moved slightly since they were fitted. This was despite fitting the new ones the same number of turns as the old ones that came off. The old ones had very little wear but I decided to change them whilst I was fitting new wishbones and ARB links (Lemforder)...not LR (TRW) crap

Went and bought a standard air filter and took the cone filter off

The ordered a new fuel filter online asit wasover half the price to local shops

Got mine back after daughter had been using it for three weeks while her car was repaired . Dropped it in local garage for MoT this morning - no prep besides checking lights worked - IT PASSED :D !

Not bad for a 12 year old car bought unseen - really seems a good one .

Had the backbox of my exhaust refitted, it decided to start rattling and vibrating and finally detached itself from the main exhaust tube today after last Sunday's green laning.
Must have caught it :)

yes yes I know, and a lift kit. Believe me if my ticket comes up you will be one of the first to know about it :)

I took the missus and kids on Sunday and after every bump and bang under the car, I sighed, "hmmm a lift kit would sort that love" (I'm trying :D)

Just keep dropping hints, or offer to buy her something! I've been told I can have an Xbox One if the missus can get some proper hair extensions lol

Replaced the tailgate handle (Again )...My own fault, I jacked the car up last week when I did the front suspension and the tailgate was ajar. Unknown to me the bottom of the handle was just above the crossbar on a steel door, when the car was raised at the front, it put pressure on the handle and broke the studs away from the plastic

Anyway, if anyone has need of either the plastic "Gasket" between the handle & body, the operating handle, handle springs, micro switches or number plate lamp drop me a PM and you can have them for the price of a donation to the forum in lieu of postage.

My bearmach fuel filter I ordered yesterday arrived and just fitted was a pain because I had no fuel in a can to fill the filter first :(
