Today's job was taking off the tired rear shocks and putting on the new Armstrongs. Piece of cake, took under an hour both sides. Didn't jack it up or take the wheel off, just lay underneath and got on with it. Held the tube with molegrips wedged against the outrigger to stop it from turning when undoing the bottom nut. To be fair, they were removed last year for the chassis work and I sprayed the nuts with diesel-oil mix a couple of days before, but it was still easier than I anticipated.
The old ones were shot; rusting through the casing, extension took some effort but the return I could do with a finger! The ride is much nicer, no more crashing from the rear when going over bumps.

Was getting mild feedback through the brake pedal before my hols. Came back from holiday and used Landy on Saturday for the first time. Brake feedback was crackers. Recently replaced all wheel bearings, so investigated brakes. Inside pistons of drivers side caliper barely pushing and so rust was building up on the disc surface. Rebuilt calipers with stainless pistons when I did the rebuild anorl  Bottom pin was a bit of a pain to get out, so that might have been helping to jam the pad. Pistons released quite easily, bottom one was worse, but moved them in and out a few times until they were moving freely. Tried jamming a half round fle in through the caliper and rotated the hub to try and clean the face. Put it back together and took it for a spin and it was marginally better. Looks like new discs for the front needed  I'm pretty sure I've only replaced the pads once since the rebuild and those discs were new. I've often wondered it I fitted the brake pipes to the distribution valve the right way  IIRC that valve does alter pressure front to back?

Collected some 285 off road tyres on rims for a friend.
Got new alloy wheel nuts free.
Arranged a meeting in a car park on his route to wales.
Swapped the wheels for new boost & tyres
& in return gained 5 x 7.50 on rims.

Found he is collecting some seats while away & is going to dispose of the “old” ones on the way past me in a weeks time :)

Don’t suppose he can ‘collect’ a set of front half shafts and cv’s as well can he? Lol :D

Today I finally fitted a new Mountney Steering wheel and gave the EGR valve a clean, the deletion kit is on order. I've a coolant leak which looking at the pink crust round the top of the hose is coming from there, so that will be next, along with a replacement steering damper.

Finally collected my roof rack. Turns out it is a Brownchurch roof rack, complete with extra body mountings for the top of the bulkhead and the rear body cappings. A really good bit of kit! I need to get a couple more brackets for the roof gutter though.

Annoyingly, on my way back, the exhaust parted company with the middle box. It happened on a speed bump at low speed so the pipe was failing. The 90 now sounds like a tractor! A job for next week.

Spent the last two days chasing my arse around the rear end of the 90 in an effort to get the rear lights working.
Yesterday I connected up all the l/h lights, no problems, everything working fine, fitted the internal cover plate and the brake light wont work:mad:. Removed the cover plate, brake light still wont work, checked all wires and connections. Finally found the bulb was now duff, changed and everything OK.
Today connected up all the r/h rear lights, no r/h brake light:mad::mad:, 1st thing is to check the bulb, and the brake side is duff, change bulb everything ok. What's going on?
Reversing light is on constantly with the ignition on, I guess I've pinched the wire somewhere, or bad connection on the box.
Then had a real senior moment, spent an hour going round everywhere looking for the new rear door seal before I remembered that I had previously bought some universal seals cheap a few years ago, so hadn't bothered to order one. As luck would have it the seal fitted perfectly.

In preparation for a jaunt up to Skye gave all the glass on the 110 a good clean and liberal dose of some RainX. My thinking is that with the glass so shines the midges will slide straight off

Had a short day today, (bit of gardening first as it was such a nice day and it was well overdue).
Anyway, had a look at the reverse switch wireing, power going to the switch OK, and power from the switch when reverse selected and ign on, so that all seems to be alright, used a test bulb. My guess is that I have a pinched wire somewhere, in the meantime I'll just take the bulb out of the reversing light until I have a bit more time.
Spent a couple of hours getting the front indicators and side lights connected, at least that all went to plan, except for having to get a die grinder out and opening up one of the holes for the indicator light to fit. Why are they always so fecking tight?
In other news, my new CB unit turned up today, highly recommended by other club members.
Amazon product can't belive how compact this is.

Have you connected the reverse to a purple cable?;)
No, I have followed the wireing dia for the year/model in the haynes manual, can't remember the colour at the moment.
You saying about the purple wire, what is that for?? I don't think it was connected to anything when I was stripping out the rear end, but it is permanent live and a heavier gauge than the rest. Did think I'd have to have a good look at it before I wrap everything up.

Yep Purple is a permanent live.
I have done away with the gearbox switch & used a standard Switch.
This gives me a small work light on rear if needed

Checked the spare ready for tomorrow and found it flat again :( took it to my local indy tyre place and he fitted a new valve while I waited.
Result :)

Sorted the headlights this morning, easy enough once I'd identified the trigger wires connected up to my home made Boomslang harness. Of course me being me I'd connected the side and indicator lights first and had to take them back off to get the headlight bowl into the wing.:mad:
Also, flushed with success I fitted the winch bumper I'd bought from paddocks,https://www.paddockspares.com/pm695...modate-most-standard-low-profile-winches.html
At first rough fitting when I offered it up I thought I'd need to get the angle grinder out and modify the bumper to get it to fit between the dumb irons, thankfully while I was being anal and measuring for the 3rd time I realised it might be possible to bend the mountings into position, this did in fact work and so that was done, just in time to watch the rugby. Nice.:D:D
