Oh the smell won't ever go for that oil if you get it on your clothes.

My diff was shot so I replaced it with a used one. Had to swap out the input flanges, which was easy. Filled up with some 75/90 gear oil.

The OSF inner wing had taken a few days to get back into shape - and I would post pictures, honest

Seems weird quoting myself, but I thought I'd have another go at posting some pictures...o_O

SWMBO's D1 battery box  four layers of utter crap, mostly thin "biscuit tin" , and plenty of fibre glass :mad::mad:- which the plasma burnt through rather smokily  .. I knew this was a bit crusty from back in the mists of time when I fitted the clutch servo - but ...:eek::eek: ..

Then, at the rear of the arch, I found yet more ####ing fibre glass!

This was easy to remove - just came orft in me hand  :D ...!

more coming in next post... reckon I've done well to get two pics up on 'ere ...

Well - I tried.. and the forum failed.. again - I had the full story typed in, quite a few pictures too... and... as you can see, it didn't work

Fitting the breathers back.... New washers and banjos ordered from Craddocks ....

I'm now getting the message that uploads are not available! An improvement ?

both drag and drop and c&p..

Continuing with yesterday's list:
  • Replaced the intercooler to inlet manifold pipe with a new silicone one
  • Replaced the wastegate modulator (which had a snapped connector)
  • and the three pipes with silicone (one of which had been completely missing for months already)
  • Replaced the driver's wing mirror - the old one wasn't heating (here's hoping its the element and not the connections somewhere)
  • Replaced the headlamps with better Osram ones
  • Attempted to replace the passenger fog lamp, only to discover that it seems to have been completely disconnected (cut wires even), and then couldn't get the bulb connector back together, and the retaining spring came off altogether. Bah!
  • Attempted to replace the wiper blades, but it seems I've previously swapped to some blades which use a different clip (and aren't as long). New clips ordered.
Still to do before Friday:
  • Replacement turbo to intercooler pipe (which I broke the nipple for connecting the wastegate modulator off)
  • and the two hoses updated to silicone
  • Oil change the rear diff (decided not to do it today, as I couldn't go for a drive first)
  • Clean out ECU plugs
  • Check gearbox & transfer box levels
  • possibly drop the coolant to clean up/replace one leaking hose (it was supposed to have arrived before yesterday but didn't) and reseat a couple of others. But I'll probably leave that for later...

Got almost all of it done, including replacing and reseating the coolant pipes.
Couldn't get the transfer box fill plug out, though (and I'm now feeling sore as a result of my efforts haha), and I skipped the gearbox as well; I'll leave that to the garage sometime. I've no particular reason to think they might be low, other than not being sure where my slow oil leak is coming from.

Unfortunately cleaning the ECU plugs hasn't solved the cold start issue I had hoped it would, so more diagnosis for that one needed. New Pace sealed injector loom arrived, though; so I shouldn't be plagued with getting oil in there at all for too much longer.

Also got the turbo cover riveted back onto its bracket so it's not flapping about anymore.
Turns out the new wipers I got don't fit the arms on mine, though; are there different options?

Oh, and I also knocked a pipe off one of the EGR control units, so now I have to try and work out which one it is to put it back on the right spot.

Installed some 2" lift blocks I had fir a while. (Now need to replace the bushings on the radius arms as there is a knocking noise).

Collect a spare turbo that I was going to overhaul and install as mine was on the way out and has been for a while. I was enjoying people looking at me when I accelerated and the high pitched whirring noise attracted their attention. An hour later the turbo failed and after driving for a couple of miles very cautiously, the smoke started, so called the AA just before 12:00, got a guy out quickly and was then recovered on a lorry 2 hours later and back home by 15:00. Swapped the turbos out and was back on the road by 18:00.
New turbo cartridge is in the post so will overhaul it when it gets here.

Had a stage one remap done by Alan at TD5 reborn last month also. Big difference in performance after that

Still need to do some welding, and the belt and tensioner most likely

Doesn't seem to let me upload pictures now

Changed the rear brake pads this morning, a quick job but spent a lot of time getting rid of the crud around the air bags and chassis - boy, the D2 has a lot of nooks and crannies for that mud to stick. It not as if it goes off-road much either, the odd field once in a while and that’s it.
I digress - while fitting the pads I noticed one of them has a notch in the backing layer...

Any ideas what that’s for? The dog helped out too by standing guard over the pads...
