As expect the CD changer under the seat didn't work. So time for a solution to that... And getting some more modern connectivity!

My ES had the high line system with Harmon Kardon amps and speakers. So I wanted to retain the existing amplification etc as it all works nicely.

Modified the new stereo harness to connect to the line outputs on the HU and everything works perfectly. All the speakers still function as they should and it sounds a bit better too.

Fitted new lift pump & new fuel tank filler pipes ran new fuel lines in last week
so was waiting on parts & re-done all the injector pipes & filter went to fill with
fuel only to see the fuel filler cap missing but had a nice cap made from masking
tape  bled up now she starts off the key for the first time since 2012 :D
Then fitted my recon diff on my 90 after snapping the pinion shaft.........
so new pinion shaft, crow wheel & bearings....fitted a new drivers handle & lock
fixed my osr light then had a coffee not bad for a mornings work lol

Did my tracking with my new tracking toy - Trackace £80
Took a little longer than I thought it would but brilliant!
Do it once more and its paid for its self!!
Also replaced the drivers door window lift channel.
Had to take it apart again though  channel was too far forward on the window
and the rear wheel thing came out of the channel!!
All done now though!!
Just gotta sort the the front footwell leaks and another coolant leak!!
Only notice when parked uphill with front end pointing uphill.
Seems to be the heater hose(One on the nearside)
Just weeping a bit but they are only two months old???

Finally fitted the de-cat pipe, and the difference is surprising. In addition to hearing the turbo spool up (which is nice!), the engine seems so much more livelier. In addition to the remap, I think this has to be the cheapest / easiest way if making the Disco nicer to drive. It's certainly more fun at junctions and traffic lights now :D

Whilst waiting frustratedly for my new front coils to arrive, and in real need of a therapeutic fettle, I decided to see if I could get some sound to come out of the r/o/s door speakers. Given I know nothing useful about vehicle electrics, this was always going to be more about therapy than usefulness.
However, after checking (looking at) the connections at the back of the radio, I then pulled off the door card.
Imagine my smile when, instead of finding a kerknackered speaker or two, in the insulated well behind the 6" speaker, I found a beautifully coiled lead, with a connector bearing uniform oxidation and no scratches whatsoever. This thing had never been connected!
Click...and I'm now a very happy boy, even though the tweeter does seem to be dead as the proverbial.

Fitted the raptor4x4 silicone hoses I picked up at p'boro. Got some mikalor t bolt clamps to go with em. I'd upload a pic but my engine bays still embarrassingly filthy from p'boro

Finally finished bleeding all the brakes having repaired sheared bleed nipples. Just one caliper carrier left to change now

Waiting to leave work early to meet Dynachip Mike, who is turning up this afternoon to drain the “1’s” and “0’s” out of my ECU and top up with fresh code

Now carrying the post mapping smile... what a difference! Smoother tick over, faster delivery.... it’s like a different engine. Thank you Mike. Off for another drive now.....

Well...what a transformation I've experienced too. After all the 'shall I, sharn't I' decision making over whether to remove my ACE (which I did) and my SLS (which I didn't...thanks Brian!), I've discovered just how cursory some MOT tests are.
Spent yesterday morning replacing shocks (TF) and springs (standard colours) at the front end of my '03 D2. This follows the replacement of 2x airbags (Contitech) and shocks (TF) at the rear last week.
Of the four shocks removed, every single one was absolutely shot, despite having an MOT a month ago. I honestly suspect these have been nadged for at least 2 tests...and I'm taking it as a serious safety-lesson learned, attributable almost completely to my unfamiliarity with D2s (other than test drives). I just didn't put 2 and 2 together (e.g. tracking ruts on motorway - which initially appeared to be solved with new front tyres - , weaving when overtaken whilst towing, extremely 'comfy' bouncy ride...okay 2 and 2 and 2). What an ignorant twit I've been.

Now...blimey, it's lke the real top-end car it should be...and it's riding a clear inch higher.

@HasisD - it’s lovely when things make a difference isn’t it? Interesting re the tramlining on the motorway / A-Road ruts.... I have some “lively” moments in mine when it appears to take its own path of travel, especially when pulling into the overtaking lane and then back. I’ve got the truck booked in for a little fettling next week so will ask them to look at the suspension generally and shocks specifically.

I'm glad that things worked out OK on the underside.
Regarding the MoT checks, in fairness, unless the shock absorbers are actually weeping or showing external signs of damage or wear it's a bit difficult for the testing technician to diagnose slack ones, other than trying the "static rock or bounce test" and that probably doesn't indicate much other than an impression. Disassembly isn't allowed.
The test is after all, subjective and some testers do seem to have their own "favourite" areas which they tend to concentrate on.

Given how long it took me to get those "£$%^&*" springs out yesterday (yes I used a bottle jack on the axle not a trolley...tsk, tsk) I can completely understand that. It was more of a lesson for me in terms of understanding what I'm unaware of as regards what is and isn't checked.

GJI...and of course, now you're making me wonder if I need a visit from Mike too ;o)

Well took it to the MOT man and he passed it :D
advisories are rear suspension bushes - so something to look forward to doing in the future
