r we talking D1, D2 or D3?

I believe that all four windows are operated through the "Window Lift ECU" in the Discovery 1.
The Discovery 2 does have the two front windows operated through the BCU and the two rear windows are "direct wired" through the switches on the centre console above the handbrake. The BCU allows for the "One touch" wind down timer operation. The rear windows have no fancy trickery other than the isolator button on the centre console.
I suppose that the D3 does have windows, whether they're 'lectric, who knows? It's too fancy for me.

Found lots of rust on my inner wings/inner wheel arches on my td5.
Me and the welder will be having a romantic weekend retreat lol

Drove it to the garage to have the rear radius arm bushes replaced.
Has made quite a difference to the ride quality! :D

Yeah, the old girl passed her MOT today, which is always a reason to be happy. Just a couple of minor advisories which I knew about.

Spent a few minutes checking the alarm sirens / horns for another thread on here.

Then when stopped at the shops she decided to throw the old I am not starting trick that appears to have popped up a few weeks ago, then disappears then pops up again. Looks like ti is time to look at this seriously.

Cheers

Got my EKA code and preparing to connect the factory fit alarm back up (ref 2 posts up!). Also ran a bead of sealant along the roof join under the trim above the rear door...

great news , always a worry every year

must be annoying as hell having electrical gremlins like that , assume it the alarm that's giving u all the grief with it allowing it to start , hope u get it resolved and not pull to much hair out

i've got this daft alarm that u can hardly hear , so found out if i disconnected this alarm speaker it would revert to the horn , thought surely it can't be that easy , but was, on removing it was abit surprised that it was made by volvo

oh well. lol

Were Volvo and Land Rover both owned by Ford at that time?

that's a point , as under the seats the electrical motors and connectors are ford

trying to think if the instrument panel were also volvo

engine i believe was in corporation with citroen and jaguar

Stupid Discoveries,

Not like goog old faithful 90's I say!

First the D2 decides to cut out coming down the motorway at 8am. Got off the mway courtesy of RAC, then it started ok, sat running for 10 minutes. Decided to drive it the last 15 miles. Guess what??? It only stopped a further 4 times. Would not restert for about 10 minutes and then it would eventually go. Got it to where I was going.

Pulled the pump, the bottom of the pump was not seated right and the whining is back with a vengeance. Am going to buy a new filter head.

Then to top it all the D1 that my old man has that had a clutch issue last week will not bleed for love nor money. Tried reverse bleeding , normal bleeding. Going to peave it over ight to see if any air shifts.

Cheers

there's nothing like owning a landy , lol

ref the reverse bleeding , was that using a bleed bottle system where u put a hose onto a tyre to force it through , had this on an older landy , ended up putting an airline on to blow everything out, then started again and bleed ok after that , think there was something in there as for love nor money i couldn't get the clutch to bleed before

looking back i adored the simplicity of my old series as u could 95 percent of the time repair it by the road side

the tribulations that we now have to go through and price we pay for having more electronics and comfort , now on later modeled land rovers the amount of wiring that goes into them can go towards the insane , just got to have a bad wire somewhere and can throw a tantrum ,

still, i think if u owned a british Leyland car u became an expert overnight trying to trace electrical faults, lol

neilly, my 200tdi fender used to have a loose conection on the starter exciter wire. About every 3 months or so so she'd be as dead as the proverbial dodo, as the wire had fallen off again. One had to wait untill the engine had cooled down before pushing it on again, all done by braille, eventually the exhaust manifold had to come off and it gave the opportunity to nip up the offending spade connector.
