Hmm, Nanocom not connecting to any ECU on P38 today. Boots ok, but no connectivity. Was fine a few weeks ago when I used it to check & reset EAS.

Found Diagnostic connector has become a bit green, but no obvious water ingress, so suspect just damp weather. Hopefully will get a fine day later this week to sort it & replace if necessary.
Replying to my own post !! Nanocom is failing to update correctly using Blackbox update SW. Think it might need an RMA :(

Also dug out my Bluetooth generic OBD & iCarsoft today. Both connect perfectly well to the GEMS ECU, so my connector cleaning has helped. Far too cold to do the soldering today though.
 
Front flexis replaced. Will bleed them after lunch.

I think that failed flexi had been hit by something. Possibly a stick off road or maybe debris on a normal road. It was pointing back ecer so slightly towards the back of the car and I am sure I never fit it at that angle.
 
They don't work very well when it's cold :(

I find a little 650w heater helps the dehumidifier in the wifes Corsa.

Today I replaced the rear air suspension bags which I think have been there since 2002. I read it was a '20 minute' job which turned into a three hour one due to clips snapping and a trip to the shops for a pry bar which fitted under the beast and a chisel ;););) Now enjoying a beer and a sense of satisfaction :)

I ended up in hospital on morphine after trying to do mine:eek::eek:
Fortunately I have a brilliant neighbour who completed the job for me:D:)

You got away lightly there I think. Otto's bags had probably been on there at least 12-14 years. Took me about 6 hours one side and 5 hours the other to remove the old bags, rustproof everything after cleaning it us and get the new bags in.
Well worth it though - no more dropping, corners flatter, rides smoother and quieter, changes height promptly.

The Range Rover’s Intelligent Power Management System ensures the alternator is charging the battery (and drawing energy from the engine) at the most efficient times, such as when the vehicle is coasting rather than accelerating. The electrical system is scaled such that the battery only needs to be charged to 80 percent, reducing the workload on the alternator. It also moderates the charge rates in cold weather when the battery is less able to cope with high charge rates, increasing battery life for lower cost and environmental impact.
Why would they do this? makes no real world sense
"Oh bugger, the alternator doesn't fully charge the battery, shall we swap it?"
"Nah, just make up some waffle for the unsuspecting public!"

Saw a L322 stuck on exit of roundabout today and offered to help as all good Land Rover owners do (my god I've needed enough help over the years). Bonnet was open and obvious going nowhere. Traffic cops needed the blockage clearing clearing as traffic backing up. Tow rope out and pulled it 10yrds to clear exit and get roundabout clear. From a distance the RR didn't look too bad, 04 plate TDV6. Then up close my god had this poor beast been mistreated. Inside a right mess, had the Icarsoft with me so offered to plug it in BUT alas the obd socket was hanging down and not connected to anything. Owner had bonnet up and said he thought it had run out of diesel as filter was empty. The filter he showed me was the little egr (presume it was egr as that what is on P38) one on the pipe that comes out of the rocker cover. Engine wouldn't turn over so tried my 1000cc lithium booster which spins the P38, nothing. Son turns up and he has about as much know how as dad. Then saving grace I'm in RAC he says, call them I says and offer my condolences and leave. 4 hrs later its still there, 41/2 hrs later its on a transporter Oh that poor beast it was plainly obvious it had had been neglected and mal treated. Parting shot from son, Nice P38 there mate bugger to maintain though aren't they. If I weren't so badly I would have dropped him
This tickled me.

I was talking to someone recently who said, "i wanted a Range Rover, but hubby (who doubtless has never seen a spanner let alone used one) said they're unreliable".
"Only if you don't maintain them, but there's more to maintain than a little hatch back" says I.
Then she got into her A Class, with its Renault engine... :rolleyes:
