Well my new track rod arrived this morning. Not bad less than 48hrs from ordering. It had been on a right tour round . I had to smile at the couriers tracking. From Doncaster to Howden to Newcastle to Darlington to Tamworth and finally to Rotherham. Not bad when you think Rotherham to Doncaster only about 20 miles. :D :D

More a case of 'what I didn't do with my RR today' - I didn't lock it.

Went out with the dog this morning and on my return noticed that the mirrors weren't folded in and sure enough, the car is unlocked. Ok, that's unusual for me but not unheard of. Grabbed the keys and pressed the lock button, nothing. Hmm, is the battery flat in the key? No, if I press the unlock button it pulses the locks, headlights, boot release etc. all working just fine. Even more curious.

Resign myself to the fact that I have a faulty key button then, that's a shame. Grab the spare keys and guess what, yep, won't lock. All other buttons are fine.

The keys must be fine from a coding perspective. Never seen this behaviour before. I'll try starting and driving it at some point to see if it recovers at all or some kind of reset may fix it but if any of you have had this I'd be interested to know what might cause it.

I'm such a knobhead!

Sat here thinking about this and had that thought of "it's like the boot is open or something". Hang on, did I actually check that function? walked out to it and sure enough, the upper hatch was released.

You know how it beeps when you leave something open and try to lock the car? Well it does if the siren isn't faulty. My siren is faulty so it was probably trying to tell me something was wrong but there was no sound and I was too stupid to make the connection.

Once all doors, boot and bonnet are closed correctly, the locking works just fine. Pilot error as usual.

Rewarding myself with a coffee now for being a clever boy and 'fixing it' all by myself.
