Edited due to effects of paracetamol !!!!
off to my specialist (Rangie not me) for all new hoses shortly

When I had multiple busted ribs years ago I found 2 squares of good quality dark chocolate and 1 paracetamol was more effective and less side effects than 2 paracetamol.

Not today but did this last week. Trying to drag myself outside to do something now

Auto gearbox oil and filter change and on Henry b's advice tightened the valve block bolts. Four were quite loose, 2 turns on the spanner, several others took half a turn or more. It remains to be seen if it has affected the flaring on the 2 to 3 shift. Props greased, transfer box and diff oil levels checked. Found some rust on the rear cross member, waxoiled as a temporary fix, will need seeing to next summer.

Nice tick list Keith, I'll be keen to hear about the bolts on the block..... o_O;)

Now the inside of the house is finally finished, I have more time to play with cars. Still got the drivers door lock to change.
The project car is now complaining about the front right height sensor and it has developed an oil leak, don't they all? I'll have a look at that ASAP/.
I'll let you know about the bolts.:)

If the bolts were loose enough for a pressure leak, then I'd say it would contribute to excessive wear in the clutch packs..
A flare between shifts is usually pressure loss or a lazy solenoid..

Maybe both. ;)

The oddity with the HP22 is the clutch pack/friction clutch at only 3.94" O.D. clutches will burn quite easily luckily They changed the clutch diameter is the main thing ZF changed with the HP24. The clutch packs on that one are 4.92 ideally something bigger than motorcycle-sized clutches are needed for a V8... :)

Another issue with the Hp22 is wear on the stator shaft this explains the common problem with the trans losing forward movement during an emission test with Diesel P38s they rev the engine to redline during the test. if the stator shaft and sealing rings are worn, running the engine at above 2,000 rpm in Park or in Neutral lets the converter oil partially apply forward clutch which is the A clutch drum, instantly destroying it. The quick thinkers at ZF fitted hardened shafts to the HP24.. :)
