Just ordered everything i need to change transmission filter, fluids & diff fluids. Just because the engine is fubar'd doesn't mean the rest of it doesn't get the usual servicing.:(

Ordered new oil an filter... Almost forgot how much oil goes into the stinkin' BMW Diesel, one can tell I haven't been driving it much for the past year.

i feel your pain mate what have you decided to do ? there are some good solutions in the search box including pinning the engine iv even seen a u tube clip of some one removing their liners then selves.

how about dropping in a donor engine ?

I'm still undecided TBH. Been busy with work so haven't had too much time to really look into it.
Due to the rest of the engine being in good order i have considered pinning the liners but it's really not something i'd be looking at doing myself. If anyone knows of somewhere that does this sort of thing then i'd be interested to hear.
Short of that, current plan is to get V8 developments to either strip mine down & top hat it or stick a new short engine in.

Donor engine would be a cheaper option but i have no confidence now in standard RV8's - especially later engines it seems. Mine has gone through 2 engines now.

Made a bracket to move my auto dipstick from rubbing on oil cooler pipes as had happened before. checked auto box level. Oil and water.

Checked all the fluids, topped up screenwash and filled the tank. 71 litres for about £86 - not bad!

Yeah the tank is **** poor in the Rangie. Mine is always bleeping at me.

In the Discovery it seems massive! Wonder if it will swap?

Decided to pull my fingers out and replace the downpipes and cat on the classic. got the nuts on the studs off one, by one starting with the hardest to access first. this is going well!

Nah ! last nut, easiest to access with the socket corroded and the head is too round to undo. hammered a 12mm socket onto it nice and tight.. nope keeps rounding off. too tight to get a nut splitter in..

.... ordered a set of nut extractors.

its too sodding cold to be messing about anyway !

It is a bit nippy... My fingers stopped working properly when checking the lifter preload on my V8. Got values close to 0.160" ... Should be between 0.020" and 0.080". Gotta get some shims! Fitting 0.050" and 0.016" together brings the preload down to ~0.054" which I think is an acceptable value between 0.020" and 0.080". :D :D :D

Once I got that lot figure out I mounted the fuel tank and freshly refreshed fuel tank guard in finally. Fiddling around trying to get washers and nuts onto the bolts with frozen hands was a right faff! Kept dropping the nut and then the washer & split washer fall down to the ground but couldn't pick them up because fingers don't work in the cold!!!

Just waiting on fuel pipe and fuel pump bolts and I can get the boot floor down. :)

Emptied heaps of rubbish out the boot. Went upto the horses mud puddles bumps got the good ol rangie muddy lol. Put battery case back on. Left details with motorfactors to get a track link bar
