There is also a water pipe at the back on the head, near the bulkhead, worth checking

Yep earth strap to bonnet under the fuzzy felt a bit.

I can confirm that it;s the earth strap to the bonnet on my MY95, but it is not there on the later vehicles.

Picture from a 96 4.6.

Didn’t look at the 2000 as I am sure it has a big flat braided wire on opposite side, but then because it’s an OF sometimes I can’t ref as standard.

Yours was built when they got back from the lunchtime drink.
Or Friday when they wanted to get off early:rolleyes:
Finished putting the replacement alternator in and put the manifold etc back. Found the source of the oil on the exhaust side of the engine/chassis. Somehow at sometime in the past before I got the car, the end of a cable tie had been trapped between the turbo outlet hose and the turbo body leaving an escape route for the oil the turbo chucks out. Took it out for a test drive and the EAS seems to be behaving now the corroded connectors have been eradicated. Time will tell. Also tweaked some of the EDC settings brought the idle speed down to within the specified range and changed one other setting with no apparent effect.

Mine is 95 has cable, bonnet from later model god knows what has two holes factory painted but no threaded bit. It will be having a self tapping screw just incase.
