Why oh why do people insist on putting round lights on what is essentially a square car. look at the l322, its obvious that the tail lights should be square, BUT NO some clever bugger thought(pardon the pun) we will put round lights in there
I took the round ones off it had more when I got it

Not sure I like the chrome bar on there at all but get what you mean about holes. Maybe spray it black?

What I meant to suggest previously is, 'I've had a portent', (google)

"Man who eat yellow colouring stick try to extract urine"

Course of action required>> Said yellow colouring stick needs rammed up his.................!
So a mobile welder has paid a visit. No yellow markings on the rot from the MOT test station and he says I've had a harsh test. About £300 max to repair but he's not convinced it's a failure? Might just get it retested to see what happens

IF the Range Rover is heading for the rusty heap in the sky which is looking unlikely would the engine fit into a Defender ? Just a crazy idea

Nice idea. You'd have to upgrade just about every other part of the Defender but at least it wouldn't rot quite so fast.

So today, I was mostly on a mobile Autobahn.... They moved it west

I took advantage as some yoof in a VW Golf thought he was Archie, Ari Vattanen and Stirling Moss all rolled into one :D

Anyhoo, turns out George is capable....VERY capable ;) as she was traversing said Autobahn at a top speed of 123mph (indicated) much to the delight of aformentioned yoof...So much so, he even gave me a thumbs up for my efforts :p:cool:

On the; ermm, "dual carriageway" section of Germany's best, he jinked into the left lane on a slight left hand bend so George, sitting tight on her motorway setting, nailed it past on the right hand lane (overtaking lane) at a very respektible one two free mijels per hooer while sitting squarely between the lines that the yoof was wavering around on.

Anyway, it turns oot that George can't go any faster in Germany. But it tickled me that she was able to run up to that mad speed on "D" coz in my exuberance, I was unable to recall I had a "Sport" setting :D

Anyhoo, in summation, I was mostly impressed that George is a fat bird, but she has speed o_O:rolleyes::eek::D:p:cool:

Sport setting would have made zero difference under the circumstances anyway.
I mustard mitt, when I bought mine I thought I'd be cruising the motorways at 60-70 but was pleasantly surprised to find its much happier at 80 and an occasional blast up to a ton+ for overtaking and keeping up viz ze Germans is so easy and relaxed.

Doo you seem a nice bloke but you do drive like a prat at times. :D:D

Inlet manifold and pipework all back. Oil and filter change (including air filter). Tried to do the engine mount but the Allmakes replacement part sheared a bolt before I made it to the torque setting. Absolutely spitting feathers. Gearbox back in (eventually with a fair bit of mucking about to get it aligned but never took the transfer box off and it is a tad heavy with it!) And then Captain Cock-up paid another visit: I'd forgotten to buy replacement prop-shaft bolts and mine are past any further reuse. I've got Sh!tpart ones in the shed but frankly I've rather hammer my tackle with camping mallet than use them. So, now have to wait for replacement prop-shaft bolts and take these damn crappy engine mounts back.

Here's a picture of the Allpart mount.

The centre bolt through the bush should be a coach bolt for a start, not that it matter much. The bush looks cheap and crappy but look at the bottom of the remaining top bolt! I should have checked that before I even thought of putting it on. Utter crap. Still, the originals looked OK so they'll be all right. I was only doing it as i had her so far apart.

The threads do not look good on that mount, it should not have been sent out like that.

was nice to meet up at prestwood hope your lad like the trip on the traction engine, I couldn't reply back to you as I buggerd me phone on the roll cage getting in my Cortina for the road run down to the local brewery.

He absolutely loved it. He had a perfect day and at the end suggested we should "visit more museums and things like we used to". Unfortunately I've been tied up with various things for months now so not really had a chance to do anything before Prestwood. Perfect day for me too other than missing out on that Imperial tap and die set.

Indeed, but I could have been a bit quicker getting there as she would have kicked down a bit quicker and held onto the lower gears a bit longer so I could have squeezed an eighth of a second faster en route to catching up with the Porsches and Beemer Erm Dubble You's :p
